Northumberland / James Peter Glasford Thompson- b Alnwick

Have hit a brick wall with my 3 x GGF. according to census he was born about 1837 in Alnwick
Northumberland. Wether this was the town or a village in the Alnwick area remains to be seen.
He married Louisa Bridge in Ashford in Kent and was surprised to see his middle names on his marriage cert,
His father was a THomas Thompson a cordwainer/ or shoemaker, James was a coach painter.
mother unknown at this time.
On a 1841 census I thought I may have found him with a Thomas Thompson shoemaker and wife/mother? Eleanor in Percy Street. Alnwick.
In 1851 Eleanor was a widow, BUT I cant find James christening record at all. not on the Durham Dioscese records for St Michaels. or on the Family search.org records.
I wondered if Eleanors maiden name was Glasford and its quite rare. but I cant find a marriage.
I have recently visited Alnwick and it seems there is a community cemetary just outside, but it got quite dark early so I didnt have time to search for any Thompson graves.
I have been advised that the family may have been Roman catholic , and my nan Thompson was a roman catholic,
but St Pauls in the town was aquired from the Anglican church as was, but no graves.
Does anyone have access to any Discs that may have a christening or a marriage in the Roman catholic church of the time ?
James died in Croydon Surrey,
Thanks for help in advance
