Dublin / Dublin Burial
« on: Friday 20 November 15 18:41 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me. I am trying to find the burial place of Jane Knowles O'Hara who died on 11th December 1921 in Dublin. Any advice or help would be most appreciated. I have looked on all the online sites that I can find but nothing on them. Could anyone tell me also where I could contact for a death certificate.

Argyllshire / Sinclair's of Balindore, Taynuilt
« on: Friday 29 November 13 23:29 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help. I have a Peter Sinclair living at Achnameadhonach, Balindore, Taynult on the 1841 census but on the 1851 census his wife Ann is a widow. I have searched for where he might be buried but can't find him. I have searched Muckairn Churchyard and records, Pennyfeur Cemetery, Ardchattan Cemetery and Oban but can find no burial for him or his wife who died in the 1860s. Does anyone have anymore suggestions where I could try.

Sligo / sligo marriage of Edward Wilson and Ellen McIlroy
« on: Sunday 31 October 10 00:16 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me find out about my Wilson family in Sligo. My great grandfather Thomas Wilson was born in 1864 at Templehouse Sligo, his father and older brothers George Edward and Robert were all Stonemasons. His parents Edward Wilson and Ellen (Helen) McIlroy were married in Sligo between 1835 and 1843 (I think). Ellen McIlroys father George McIlroy was a House Factor. Edward Wilson was born in County Down and Ellen was born in Sligo. Thomas's brother George married an Eliza Phillips in Sligo in 1864 and this is all I know about the family. I would love to find out when Edward and Ellen were married. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. The family all moved to Glasgow around 1865/66 although George and Edward jnr. returned sometime after 1881 as they are both on the 1901 census. George died 1906 in Sligo

Down / Looking for info on Murphy family of Newry
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 00:08 BST (UK)  »
I don't know if anyone can help but I hope so. The only info I have on my g.grandmother is the following: Her name was Sarah Murphy and she was born in 1871 in Newry, her parents were John Murphy and Catherine Quin and she had a sister named Catherine born in 1874 in Newry. Thats all I know so hoping there is someone out there that can help me find out a bit more. I don't even know which part of Newry she came from. I think her father was dead by 1891 when she married a Thomas Wilson in Glasgow. Any help would be much appreciated.

Argyllshire / Kilmorich look-up
« on: Tuesday 29 July 08 17:02 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can do me a look-up of the Kilmorich parish records. On the 1881 1891 and 1901 census my great grandfather John Ferguson has his birthplace down as Kilmorich, Argyllshire but I have been to Edinburgh records office and can't find any trace of a birth which would have been around 1854/56 his mother was Isabella MacCallum of Kilmartin and his father was John Ferguson of Glasserie. I wondered if anyone lived near or ever visited Kilmorich if they could look in the graveyard for either Isabella or John snr. as I can find no records of them either. All I have on the parents is they both were working in Kilmartin in 1851 before they were married for the McNab family. John jnr.worked for the McNab family in Glenorchy in 1881. Any help appreciated.

Argyllshire / Castle House, Glenorchy 1881
« on: Tuesday 29 July 08 16:54 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me find a map of Castle House, I have an ancestor on the 1881 census and he is living at Castle House, district of Glenorchy and Inishail. He was a ploughman so I am assuming it is a farm. I am sure I saw a map once before with Castle House on it but I can't remember where.

Lanarkshire / Help finding a burial
« on: Thursday 24 January 08 00:15 GMT (UK)  »
My grandmother died in 1922 aged 22 in the Eastern District Hospital which later became known as Duke St. Hospital, her usual residence was Soho St. Bridgeton can anyone help me find out where she is buried. I have tried the Glasgow Cemeteries and Crematoria Dept. but with no joy, they don't seem to have a record of a burial for her. Does anyone know where else I could try. Would she be buried in a graveyard that was nearest to her home? Any help would be much appreciated as I would love to visit her grave.

Fife / Fergusons/Inverkeithing
« on: Wednesday 23 January 08 23:38 GMT (UK)  »
My great- grandfather John Ferguson died in Burnside Inverkeithing in 1918 and I wondered if anyone could tell me what I could look up to find the address where he lived then, on his death certificate it just says Burnside Inverkeithing. I also wondered if there was anything I could look up to find out how long he lived there (I'm sure he moved there from Argyll around 1909) and who else was in the household.
Also his wife died in 1930 and was buried with a family who owned Scott's Mill and with whom she had apparantly no connection whilst her husband was buried in a lair on his own, does anyone know if it was common practice then for people to be buried in a lair with people who they were not related to.
