London and Middlesex / How and where to obtain a Coroners report
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 09:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi

My Grand Mother Lily Maud Hutchinson was killed during the Blitz and there is some discrepancy as to where this happened.

My Father has told me she was working as a cleaner in a pub when a V1 dropped on the corner of Guildford St and Union St Southwark on 19 June 1944 killing both her and her Daughter Patricia Doreen Hutchinson. His recollection is that they were in the cellar and were found under a table, a water main had ruptured and they both drowned.

I have a conflicting report from a Newspaper stating the were both killed in Union St although the two local pubs the King Henry VIII and The Jolley Gardeners were both listed as death sites.

I assume the only way to determine the truth is with a coroners report can anybody tell me how I go about this, or if it is difficult can you suggest a Researcher who could assist.
Many Thanks
Tom

I have a number of records concerning Benjamin Kingman being convicted at the Sussex Assizes to Life in New South Wales.  The date of conviction was 20 Mar 1803, he sailed on the Coromandel on 28 Mar 1803 and arrived in Sydney on 7 May 1804.

The query I have is firstly what was he convicted of ?  Secondly why was he convicted in 1803 arrived in New South Wales in 1804 and then in 1805 pardoned, can anybody find any records to answer any or all of these queries please

South Africa / Death at Sea?
« on: Friday 04 January 19 03:30 GMT (UK)  »
I have a copy of a passenger list for the ship "PAPA" sailing from Hamburg, Germany to Cape Town, with three members of the Schultz family on 31 Marz 1878.

Carl Schultz his Wife Mathilde and son Franz, the passenger list shows Franz aged 3 months at the start of the journey.  According to the family Franz died on the voyage, yet I have a copy of The South African Passenger List index 1688-1950 showing Franz presumably entering South Africa on 3 March 1878, obviously a mistake somewhere with the dates.  I can find no record of a death at sea or any further mention of Franz in South Africa is it normal to register a person into South Africa if they died on the voyage or did he arrive a die shortly afterwards.    I cannot find a passenger list for the "Asiatic" on which they left Cape Town to Port Elizabeth arriving June 27 1878. Can anybody help please.
