I am trying to research my great grandfather, Benjamin Edwin Smith. He is listed (on my grandfather's marriage license in 1919) as being a Major in the Indian Ordnance Corps. My gf, Sidney L. Smith, was born in Madras, 19 June 1888 (his mother was Lillian nee Blake).
I have started looking through some Army Lists (1913), and I found a Benjamin Edwin Smith listed as a Senior Assistant Surgeon in the Indian Subordinate Medical Dept, with the Honorary rank of Major, and wonder if that might be him.
I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer.
