Armed Forces / Uniform help please
« on: Wednesday 18 January 17 10:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I was wondering if any of you lovely people could help me out with my 2x great grandfather's military uniform please. All I know about him is that his name is George Baker not sure when or where he was born. He married (no record of that!), Eliza Philips born 1851, and they lived in the Woolwich and Plumstead area. He doesn't appear on any census with Eliza though he is in the electoral roles at her address. He disappears from them after 1891. All I have are photos so his military record is my last hope of finding any info on him. Thank you

hi, I'm researching two brothers, John Gilson b.1817 and Edward Gilson b.1819 who were convicted in 1838 of larceny and both sentenced to 7 years transportation, Edward was transported in 1839, but John was never transported and was Pardoned in England in 1842, can anyone tell me if there are any records available for pardons around this time as I am having trouble finding any other information.

Aberdeenshire / what information does a marriage record from 1779 hold
« on: Friday 02 January 15 09:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, i'm just starting to research my Scottish line and would like to know wether both parents names are included in marriage records from around 1779.
I have an Alexander Gordon marrying Margaret Gordon 24.10.1779 Glenmuick, Aberdeen and then what i assume is the same couple remarrying on 31.10.1779 Loch Lee, Angus, Their three children , Charles, James and Margaret were all baptised in Loch Lee.
I do have instances of other couples in my tree marrying within weeks in two nearby parishes but have never discovered the reason for this
Thank you

Suffolk / Samuel Cason, Eye
« on: Monday 22 September 14 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I'm looking for the baptism of Samuel Cason born about 1763 in or around Eye, Suffolk, he married Ann Warren in 1786 in Diss, Norfolk, where it says he is from Eye. I have found a large number of Cason's in Eye, including a family that have all the same names as he named his children, yet cannot seem to find any mention of Samuel's baptism in this area, though others have put his baptism date as 1763 to parents John and Mary Cason, there is no mention of where they got this information from.

Sussex Lookup Requests / James Bennett marriage 1864 Worthing
« on: Friday 29 August 14 13:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Is there anyone on here that has access to the Worthing Parish records, if so could you look up the marriage for James Bennett to Kate Ratley in 1864 please?.
I would like to know if he says that he is a widower, as his first wife Phoebe, who he married in 1844 in Arundel,  seems to have disappeared after their only child George was born in 1846, James is living with Kate Ratley from 1851 onwards and they seem to have a number of children living with them that may or may not be his, thank you

Flintshire / Hope in Flintshire
« on: Saturday 09 August 14 21:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi, does anybody have access to the parish records for Hope? I am looking for the baptism of Thomas Mort, (Malt/Mault) born about 1807, his father was Benjamin and i think his mother may of been Mary, I have found baptisms for his siblings, the family were living in Rhanberfedd, but had the children baptised in Hope and his parents were buried there.
Thank you
