Dublin / O'Brien, Murray and Smythe.
« on: Wednesday 05 April 23 12:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi all not been on here for a good while, but here goes.

I am looking for any information on John O'Brien c1817-1881, Catherine Murray born c1817 and Francis Smythe c1827-1917.  John and Catherine are on my tree, my 3x great grand parents. But since my DNA results where I have a connection with them I am finding a Francis Smythe (no DNA connection) married to John O'Brien.  John and Catherine married 2nd Dec 1837 and had my 2x great grandad in1838.  They married in St Michans Dublin.  I then found John married to Frances in 1868 in Harrogate Yorkshire.

What I need to know is, is the John married to Frances the same as the one married to Catherine as I have not bee able to find a record of Catherines death.  Which I think is what happened for John to marry again. Any help is appriciated.

« on: Tuesday 15 July 14 23:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi all hope some one can help.

Does anyone know how or where I can find who lived in the Lockkeepers Cottage Newcomen Bridge.  This would have been between 1924 and 1939.  The people I am hoping to find are Patrick and Kate Flynn.

Thanks.

« on: Sunday 17 March 13 20:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all.

I have found my granddad on the army census for 1922.  It shows that he was at Marlborough Hall Glasnevin, the stamp on the census says convalescent home.  Can any one tell me about this place, and is it still standing.  Also why would my granddad have been there?  All help much appreciated.

Thanks.

Dublin / E Company 1920 - Selected Members
« on: Tuesday 08 May 12 08:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

There was a list of men put up on here a while back with the title above, can't find it and I can't scan it as my scanner is broken.  Anyway the list can be found at the back of the book calle Mud Island A History of Ballybough.

I do belive one of the men listed on there is my granddad. On the list he is P Flynn of 19 Charleville Mall, was a checker for MGWR and joined in 1919.

Can anyone tell me what the Selected Members means?

Thanks.

« on: Monday 09 January 12 00:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again, I now need help with the Fox branch.

By the 1901 census the family had moved to Dublin but they were all from County Kildare.  On the census the family was:-
                                                                 Laurence age 50
                                                                 Bridget age 40
                                                                 John age 29
                                                                 Laurence age 27
                                                                 Patrick age 25
                                                                 William age 23
                                                                 Thomas age 21

That's all I have on them apart from their daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Mooney and these became my great grandparents.

Once again thanks.

Kildare / Mooney family
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 23:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, now trying to track down my Mooney branch.

My grandmother Margaret Mooney (married Charles Byrne in Dublin) was born 8th June 1896.  Father was Thomas Mooney born c1865 and Elizabeth Fox born c 1866.  The 1901 census has them living in the parish of Morristownbiller, the family were:-
                                                                  Thomas age 36
                                                                  Elizabeth age 35
                                                                  Thomas age 13
                                                                  Laurence age 11
                                                                  Patrick age 9
                                                                  Bridget age 7
                                                                  Margaret age 5
                                                                  Richard age 2mths

Moved to Dublin but by the time of the 1911 census  Thomas had moved back to Kildare and Elizabeth is on her own in Dublin living at 4 Bow Lane West.  Daughter Margaret is living with her grandparents at 36 Bow Lane West.  Thomas is living with a family as a servant occupation agricultural labourer.  The family were called O'Grady, living in the parish of Morristownbiller.

If anyone out there can help me with more information much thanks.

Dublin / Doyles
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 23:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all.

I am now on the track of the Doyle branch of my family.  I have done pretty well so far but have now come to a stop.  I have got back to my ggg grandfather, but there the trail ends.

My grandmother was Mary Doyle born 1902 and I do have her birth cert.  Her parents were Joseph Doyle born 1876 and Margaret Murphy (although I have not found their marriage cert yet).  Josephs parents were Edward Doyle born c1851 and Margaret Derham.  Edward and Margaret married in 1875.  Later Margaret must have died because Edward remarried in 1900 to Mary Paul nee Kelly.  My grandmother was brought up by Edward and Mary.  They lived in Summer Place then and Marys parents were also from Summer Hill, the Kellys were there from at least 1865.  Edwards parents were Patrick Doyle and Sarah Byrne.

This is where I have come to a halt.  I have found the baptism record of a Richard Doyle whose parents were Patrick Doyle and Sarah?  Also the address and date of birth are unreadable.  But he was baptised in1851.  I can not find a record for the marriage of Patrick Doyle and Sarah Byrne.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
