New Zealand Completed Requests / Birth lookup for Francis MCHugh Reid
« on: Friday 16 December 16 03:15 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone help me locate the birth certificate of my GGrandfather Francis McHugh Reid. He was supposedly born 1867/8 Napier NZ to David Glen Reid and Rose Gray. They arrived in NZ on the Belgravia in 1865. David was married to an Anne Robertson in Derry  prior to his marriage to Rose Gray and had a daughter Johanna by Anne Robertson. I can find no trace of the  birth  of Francis on the BDM site although some of their other children Rose 1869,Henrietta 1872, and Florence 1876 are all there. He married Margaret Kennedy in Feb 1898 and their first son Douglas Glen is born 18/10/1898 Pahiatua. The birth cert  for Doug states he is 30 and born in Napier. The McHugh in his name I felt was a bit odd then I discovered David's first daughter Johanna married a Bernard Francis McHugh in 1868 in Napier before leaving for Australia. Could he be their son but has been passed off as her Fathers? No record anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas where I could look next?

Armagh / Conroy Edenderry Parish
« on: Wednesday 28 September 16 04:05 BST (UK)  »
Am unsure where to look for  RC Parish  Edenderry baptism records. My GGrandfather John Conroys army papers state he was born in the Parish of Edenderry near Portadown County Armagh. He states he is 18 when he joined up in 1854 in Portadown. I have been looking at Catholic Parish records on the National Library site but Edenderry Parish is listed as County Offaly. Am unsure if I am looking in the right records. His parents were Michael Conroy and Mary Haggin or Higgin. He marries in Portadown in 1884 to Jane Rainey who was his second wife first being Ann Maloney. Not sure when the first marriage was or what happens to her. Can someone help re parish Records I should be looking at.

Other Countries / India Information re John Conroy
« on: Sunday 10 April 16 04:45 BST (UK)  »
My GGrandfather John Conroy was in India during his war service 1854 - 1875 for over 15 years. His discharge papers list him with 47 Foot -46- 96 on discharge   so maybe he was in three regiments over the 21 year period of service. I am wondering if he married there during the time he was there. His death cert listed a first wife Ann Mahoney/Maloney. He married again in 1884 in Portadown to Jane Rainey at St Patricks.  Have not been able to locate a marriage in Ireland for him and Ann but noticed a birth of a Sarah Conroy to a John and Ann Conroy in Lucknow India in 1866 and wondered if this was them. The entry does not list Ann's maiden name though. How can I find out this information?

Lanarkshire / Will for Annie Stewart died 1937
« on: Sunday 16 August 15 08:17 BST (UK)  »
Can someone advise how I can get a copy of a will for Annie Stewart who died 8 Jan 1937 at 51 Otago Street Glasgow. Trying to track down her daughter Margaret born 1885  at 5 Wilton Street Glasgow who gave birth to my father  Hector Hart in 1912. I thought her will may give me some idea of Margaret's whereabouts as I could find no trace of her marriage or death at Scotland's People after spending a week there on a recent trip to Scotland.

Cheers

Fermanagh / Connolly and Hackett Familys of kilasher Parish
« on: Friday 30 May 14 03:02 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for help to locate my GGrandmother Margaret Hackett's birth details. Her parents were Margaret Connolly and Peter Hackett noted as married May 1861 in Kilasher Parish on their second daughter Mary's birth certificate. Mary was born in Scotland but Margaret is listed as being born in Ireland. Would like to locate a copy of the marriage certificate of Margaret and Peter as well to see who Peter's parents are. From a death certificate for Margaret Connolly I have found her parents were John Connelly and Mary McGachern? not sure of spelling. Any help tracing these families and where they were from would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Can someone help me locate the marriage certificate for my GGGrandparents  Bernard (Barney)Connor born 1833 and Bridget Hart(Biddy) born 1835. I think they were married at St Johns Barrhead on 13-1-1854. I am hoping a marriage certificate will tell me who their parents were. I have looked on Scotlands People but could only see an announcement. Would there be an actual certificate somewhere ? ?

Lanarkshire / Census 1911 Detail
« on: Sunday 01 May 11 08:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have been advised that you cannot search the Scotlands People Census site by address ? Is this correct ? I have been waiting for the Census but want to look for the address as I don't have a date of birth for my fathers birth mother Margaret Stewart just the address she lived at on the birth certificate. I have been told that it would be a long and expensive exercise for a common name like Margaret Stewart ? Can anyone advise me regarding this please?

Cheers
Jo
