Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Pavis Westley Waterless
« on: Saturday 01 February 20 11:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
My 5x great grandfather Thomas Pavis was buried in October 1771 in Westley Waterless. He married Anne Ma(u)lt in 1755 in Burrough Green. She was buried in July 1819 in Westley Waterless. They had 9 children.

That's what I know so far! Now for the bit I'm really stuck on.

I can't find any record of a baptism for Thomas so I have no idea where he came from, how old he was when he died or who his parents were. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions i would love to hear them. There were several Pavis in Cheveley at the time. I'm not sure if he was connected to them.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Devon / Jane Darton b Plymouth 1819 m Sherborne 1846
« on: Saturday 31 March 18 10:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking into my husband's side of the family and have hit a brick wall. Jane Darton is proving very elusive!

Jane Darton married Frederick Hamblin 10 May 1846 in Sherborne. Their witnesses were Joseph Hamblin (Frederick's father) and James Bozwell. John Darton is given as Jane's father.

I've found them on all the census. Frederick was born 1823 in Sherborne and died 1886 in Kent. Jane was born 1819 in Plymouth Devon and died 1902 in Kent.

I can't seem to find Jane's christening or anything else that will help to identify her parents.

If anyone can help I'll be very grateful.

I've also put this message on the Dorset board.

Thanks

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Tommy Thompson in Streetly
« on: Thursday 31 August 17 09:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi
An elderly friend has asked for my help to find this person. She doesn't know much but I'm hoping someone can suggest a way to fill in some of the blanks. I'll tell you what she has told me.

Tommy may be short for Thomas or may be a nickname.
His surname was Thom(p)son.
He was probably born 1900-1910.
In the late 1940's he was in Walsall.
In the late 1950's and early 60's he lived in the Thornhill Park area of Streetly, Sutton Coldfield (possibly in a bungalow).
In 1992 she was told that he had passed away but not where or when.

As you can see the information is very vague. The only thing she is certain about is his residence in the 50's. I'd love to receive any suggestions that might help to unravel this mystery.
Thanks

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Westley Waterless Baptisms 1750-70's Pavis family
« on: Tuesday 22 March 16 14:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Does some kind and generous soul out there have access to the Westley Waterless baptism records. I have a list of children but I'm not sure if they were all from the same parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I think there may be some variation in the way the surname is spelt. The names I have are

Thomas Pavis (1757)
Adam Pavis (1759)
Ann Pavis (1761)
John Pavis (1763)
Alexander Pavis (1764)
?? Pavis (1767)
Frances Pavis (1769)
Joseph Pavis (1771)

Thank you and kind regards
Olive

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / George Stalley and Sarah missing marriage
« on: Monday 07 March 16 11:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'll be so grateful if someone can help. I've run out of ideas.

I'm trying to find the marriage of George STALLEY and Sarah. I'll tell you what I know as this may help.

George was baptised on 12 May 1844 in St Andrew's Enfield Middlesex.

Sarah was born between 1835 and 1842 (from census) in Finchingfield Essex.

Their first child, William, was baptised on 31 January 1864 in St Andrew's Enfield Middlesex.

The family then moved to Ipswich, where their first child died in March 1866. Their second child Ernest was baptised on 19 February 1871 in St Mary Stoke Ipswich Suffolk. They had two more children, Thomas and Arthur, in Ipswich.

Thanks
Olive

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / John Willis/Louisa Nunn marriage 1843
« on: Friday 22 January 16 10:41 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning
Please could someone help with finding details of the marriage of John WILLIS to Louisa NUNN in September qtr 1843 Newmarket district. I'd really like to know if they give fathers' names, who the witnesses were or their ages. I think the marriage took place in Ashley, but I could be wrong.

I think this could be the missing link from yesterday's query regarding Louisa WILLIS!

Thank you.

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Maria, Louisa & Phoebe Willis in Ashley
« on: Thursday 21 January 16 10:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have a little mystery that really needs some help to solve!

These 3 ladies all have connections to Thomas SARGENT. I'd really love to know if they were connected to each other.

Thomas SARGENT (b 1804 Gazeley Suffolk) married Maria WILLIS on 20 October 1829 in Ashley Cambs. Maria SARGENT died June qtr 1840 in Newmarket district.

On 1841 census Thomas is with his 4 children and Phebe WILLIS (age 65) in Ashley. Phoebe Willis died in September qtr 1854 in Newmarket district. Was Phoebe Mother of Maria?

Thomas then married Louisa WILLIS (b 1823 in Moulton Suffolk) in September qtr 1846 in Newmarket district. On 1861 census Thomas and Louisa are in Ashley with their 8 children plus 1 from Maria.  Louisa SARGENT died December qtr 1863 in Newmarket district. Was Louisa sister of Maria?

I'll be thrilled to receive any ideas on how to link them all together.
Thanks
