Ireland / Edward/Thomas McKenzie
« on: Wednesday 11 March 15 11:44 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to ascertain what part of Ireland my ancestors came from. The appear in census records in Stirling, Scotland from 1851 (census record taken Apr) I am also trying to find wedding records etc for them and realise that not all records are available (tho my understanding is that church records are due to be released in the summer ) On the 1851 Scottish census it shows that Thomas and Catherine McKenzie had four children who had been born in Ireland, Mary 1842, Edward 1846, Anne 1848 (my 2 x Great Grandmother) John 1850 ............... but I have not been able to find either their marriage or births/baptisms of any of the children ...... I have tried the Scottish 1911 census to see if any show what part of Ireland they are from with no success.  I have no proof that they are from Co. Mayo but have found this record and wondered if it could connect to them. What exactly is an Extract of Census record - it mentions Waddell Street, SS Glasgow as the address ?? Waddell Street was an area of Glasgow that housed a lot of immigrants .....

Ireland / Help badly needed - Thornton / Adams
« on: Wednesday 04 March 15 21:16 GMT (UK)  »
My 3 x Great Grandmother and Grandfather came to Scotland (Stirling) from Ireland .... their names were Bridget Thornton (various spellings) born approx 1821, and Walter Adams born approx 1811
They may have been Roman Catholics, John their eldest son (my 2 x great grandfather) married in Stirling in an R.C church this obviously dosent confirm that the whole family were R.C ... Bridget and Walter had three known children whilst living in Ireland: John born about 1841, Mary 1845 and Patrick 1849 ..... I am trying to ascertain what part of Ireland they were from, and wondered if anybody can give me any idea how I do this ??? Have tried looking for a marriage for Bridget and Walter with no succcess ..  They went on to have at least a further three children in Stirling and the first Scottish census records I have found them on is in 1861. Any help would be appreciated

The Common Room / Ship Vessel called Nora Greame
« on: Friday 07 March 14 20:26 GMT (UK)  »
wondering if anyone can help ??? My 2nd Great Great uncle died at sea apparently on this ship - he died in 1874/1875 - not sure whether he was on route from Liverpool to Bombay or on route from Bombay to Liverpool but think it may have been the latter.  I am trying to find out how he died but with no success (have found record of his death) wondered if I would be able to find out any information regarding this ship, eg what kind of goods it was carrying .... if there is a picture of the ship available anywhere etc.

Thanks
