Glamorganshire / Jackson's Bridge Cemetery
« on: Sunday 27 September 15 14:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Trying to work out where someone who died in 'Jacksons Bridge' Merthyr Tydfil would have been Buried.

1848 Burial at Jacksons Bridge.   LONG Henry and Wife Margaret.  (have details).
.
Also a Burial 1861   Sophia LONG of Jacksons Bridge in Merthyr Tydfil Parish Church.

I cannot find any Churchyard in Jacksons Bridge. Wondering if Cefn Coed would be the correct Cemetery.

Thank you
Reyz

Any ideas on what the Christian name is of the Lady on attached.
Wedding Witness  -  Surname looks like GARDNER.   Says X  Her Mark.

Wedding was 1824 in St Leonard's Shoreditch.  The other witness James B HILL is witness on several Marriages.

Thank you

PRICE Emma       c1847 Peterchurch

« on: Monday 29 October 12 14:59 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for a Marriage please  :

a John DREWITT / DREWETT  born c1796 in Oxford   a Baker
and
Sophia ?  born c1799 in Hounslow Middlesex.

1841 - 1871 they are living in Hammersmith.  Their first ' known child, Sarah was born c1826 in Hammersmith.  So assume they married in Hammersmith, unless married in Sophia's birthplace, Hounslow?

Two of their daughters lived in Hounslow in later years.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / 1851 Blaenavon Ironworks SMITH Please
« on: Thursday 20 October 11 13:49 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Can someone look at the 1851 Census for me, please  :

1851 Census  Llanover Upper (part of) Blaenavon Ironworks  Office Square
SMITH David  U  18  Stone Miner born Gloucestershire, Little Dean

I wrote this down a good few years ago and would like to check if 'Office Square' is correct as I can find no mention of it and
if David SMITH is living on his own.

David married Eliza HUGHES of Trevethin Bleanafon (my Great Great Grandparents) in
Llanover Parish Church in 1857, have details.
Am I correct in thinking this would be 'St Peters Church'?

Thank you

Glamorganshire / LONG Ann of Merthyr Tydfil is it the correct one?
« on: Thursday 04 November 10 21:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, apologies this is long winded

1851 - 1871 Census Merthyr Tydfil  :  Ann LONG born c1833 in Merthyr Tydfil is living with or next door to her sister  Eliza JONES nee LONG  born 1837 Merthyr Tydfil.   Parents Henry and Margaret LONG both d1848.
(1841 Census never found, old post details at end).

1881 Census  :    Eliza JONES  46  is at 8 High Germany  -  she is sharing a house with an Ann ‘  HILLY’ (HEALEY) but checked and pretty sure it is not her sister Ann LONG.
** Next door is a John LONG 22 = Hannah nee Collins?
No sign of  sister Ann LONG..

Only thing I could find for Ann LONG   :
Death  1881 March qt  -   Ann LONG aged 43    -  age a bit out but as her age varies sent for Certificate anyway  .. Arrived today  :
Ann LONG 43  Widow  Found in  doorway in Lower Merthyr Tydfil, died of exposure to frost and cold outside, Lower Merthyr Tydfil.  :(
Informant the Coroner and an Inquest..
Undecided if it is my Ann or not ?? Not a Widow as far as I know and wrong part of Town?

1861 Census  :   there is a Ann LONG that could fit the one from death certificate.
Married to Patrick LONG 1833 Waterford Ireland and Son John LONG 1879 MT  **
I can’t find any sign of the parents after 1871, however but their son John ** appears to be living
Next door to my Ann LONGs sister, Eliza JONES in 1881 Census   ..    Coincidence?

Not sure whether to  take a risk and try and obtain the Coroner’s Report? Or am I missing something obvious?
Any thoughts would be welcome, thank you.

Previous post about Eliza and Ann in 1841.
