Australia / Violet May Bertrum nee WARD

Looking for the family of my mother`s half sister Violet May Bertrum nee WARD who lived with her family in Armadale. Violet was born in Yorkshire, England on 27th March 1920 and died on 20th June 1999. She is buried in Bunurong Memorial Park Le Page Lawn Row 89, Grave 108.

William Henry Lawrence Adams b. 7/10/1906 Towcester [Ascote?] was one of my mother`s foster brothers. I haven`t been able to trace him beyond 1913 when his name is recorded on the Towcester Cof E School Admission Register 1911-1929. He had two brothers Charles and Percy and parents Harry and Lottie Adams for whom my records are complete. Can anyone help please with further info. for William?

Looking for information on David Farmilo[e]b.1822 Gloucestershire - wife Sophia- daughter Sarah Elizabeth Farmilo b. Jan 18th 1853 one of 5 children?? Sarah married John Page

Also Eliza [Elizabeth] Spohia Farmilo b. 1850 who married James [Watts] Page who was my husband`s great grandfather

The Farmilo family seem to have moved to the Chelsea area of London from Gloucestershire.

Lancashire / Briscoe/Tait marriage

Have found a possible marriage of SARAH BRISCOE born 1889/90 to James and Mary Briscoe to a WALTER TAIT in 1915. Is this the same SARAH named as mother to Robert Herbert Melia b.1922[now diseased] on his birth certificate? The birth certificate shows father Albert Melia , mother Sarah Melia nee Briscoe. I have been unable to find any marriage for Sarah and Albert and if Sarah HAD been married to Walter Tait why would she have reverted to her maiden name Briscoe? I believe that Walter Tait may have been killed during WW1.I believe that Sarah died in 1933 but I have been unable to discover what happened to her son Robert after her death. I have also been unable to find any information about Albert Melia named as the father on Roberts birth certificate.
Any ideas please?

Canada Lookup Request / Wartime marriage

This is a request on behalf of a friend researching her late husbands family history.

Royal Airforce records for ROBERT H MELIA [deceased] show a marriage to a ISABELLE RACHEL FOSTER on 1/7/1944 at Milltown, Charlotte, N.B. A further address for Mrs MELIA is given as 341, Ominica St. Moose Jaw,Sask. Is it possible to find out any more about Robert Melia`s first wife in particular if there is a record of her family and her death or divorce?
Robert Mel1a seems to have been in Canada with the Airforce from 1943 so maybe there are some more records to discover.

Please can anyone help with birth information for:-

Robert Herbert Melia b. 10 January 1922 Woodchurch. Mother Sarah Briscoe. Robert died in 2013.
His mother died when Robert was about 9 years old and he was placed in the care of Barnardos,
Liverpool. Robert was later fostered as his father Albert Melia was a full time soldier.

My request comes on behalf of Robert`s widow who would like to know more of her late husbands family.

World War One / charles Ward

Have had no luck so far trying to trace the war records for my grandmother`s husband CHARLES WARD. He was born in 1885 in Burn Yorkshire and was working as a groom in Sharow, Ripon, Yorkshire when he enlisted. I have no details of his regiment other than that he had been drafted to Palestine with the B.E.F around 1916. He was married to Gertrude Charlotte nee Blanchard and they had three children, George, Dorothy and Nellie all now diseased.
Can any one help please?

Australia / The Bertram Family

I recently discovered that my mothers half sister Violet, Mary nee Ward b.1920 Ripon, Yorkshire emigrated to Australia with her husband Barry Bertram and their two daughters at the end of WW2. Is anyone able to help me to find emigration details for the family who were living in Monmouthshire before they left for Australia? I believe that Violet and Barry have died but their daughters may still be living so I will not mention their names.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / finding g.grandfather Walter Bate`s birth details

Am having trouble finding my g.grandfather Walter Bate`s birth details and have already purchased an incorrect certificate. Born abt. 1863 the 1871 census gives his place of birth as Liverpool and his parents Thomas and Elizabeth. The 1881 census show the family living at Rows Cottages Halton Cheshire. I have Walter`s marriage certificate, Dec.25th1889, showing wife Mary Stokes and father Thomas. I think that Walter died abt. 1892 the year my grandfather James Bate was born. Please can anyone help?
