Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A tricky one in a mourning locket - any ideas of date please?

Yesterday I very excitedly found this very poor photo in a mourning locket.

Looking at all the possible ladies it could be, I have a lady who died in 1862 - she was very young when she died, do you think this could possibly have been her?  Sarah Bridge from Durham
I couldnt get a great picture of it because it is woefully small.

Northumberland / Oh dear! A Smith conundrum

I am not sure if anyone is in a position to help me but there were a couple of John Edward Smiths living in North Shields at the turn of the century 1900s - one the son of John and one the son of Thomas.  The only thing I do know is that the one I want married Christiana (or Christina) Peacock in 1911 at Christ Church parish.  If anyone is able to access the parish records and could tell me which John Smith I am chasing I would be most grateful.  I am doing this for a friend so am reluctant to purchase a certificate.

Any help most gratefully received!

Armed Forces / Royal Irish Fusiliers in India

Hi - sorry, very new to following military issues so any assistance is most gratefully received.  I am searching for a friend and so far have a private James Booth, private in 87th foot Royal Irish Fusiliers - died 27 August 1858 (from the Indian Mutiny medal roll).  I can find nothing for him for this date in the Indian burial records (Bengal, Madras, Bombay).  Can anyone please suggest where I might go to next? Obviously I would love to see his service record but dont know where to go to find that, if, indeed it still exists!

Sorry about the quality of these but my scanner is on the blink - I hope there is enough information to hazard a guess as to possible dates for these ladies

These are both on metal plates (daguerreotypes?) and both quite dark in real life.

My mum tells me that the two ladies are mother and daughter - in which case, which one do you all think is the mother?  Mum and I disagree on this one!

Canada / Hopper Toronto brick wall

I dont have access on ancestry to Canadian records but was wondering whether anyone would be able to shed any light on a distant relative George Hopper (bap 1843) son of Thomas Hopper and Mary Palmer from Durham.  George was living at 24 St Lawrence Arcade, Toronto, in 1873 according to a letter from his brother to his sister (my ancestor) and I havent been able to find anything further about him since then.  If anyone could give me some clues what happened to George I would be immensely grateful!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Would anyone like to hazard a date and a why? please?

This is a gathering that my aunt has in an album (sorry for the splodge in the middle, I didnt want to take it out).  Is there anything which could indicate a date there please?  And what sort of occasion would bring them together dressed like that?  I was thinking it was kind of funereal but some of them are smiling.  My aunt thought it was somewhere in the country but it screams "city!" at me (it was from my grandmother's box of things and she was born in London and orphaned in 1911)



I would love any ideas about this one!

The Common Room / How to find a Princesse?

Not quite sure where this one should go!

I have a birth record being witnessed by one Leopoldine, Princess de Haremberg (sic) in July 1723 in London.  Also witnessing this birth was Henry, Lord St John (sic) who could possibly have been Henry St John, Earl of Bolingbroke who would have been returning from a sort of exile about that time.  This was a Hugenot family, not particularly well known as far as I could gather.

Anyone got any ideas about how I could find this Princesse - googling hasnt given me much to go on!
