Lancashire Lookup Requests / Reformatory Ship AKBAR
« on: Wednesday 07 August 19 23:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi.  Hoping I can enlist the help of someone offering lookups at the Lancashire Records Office.

I am researching my great uncle John Hudson, born Bristol, 12 March 1886.  Orphaned by the age of 6, John was an inmate on the Reformatory Ship Akbar in 1901 (census).
The Records Office collection is titled: Liverpool Juvenile Reformatory Association.
Reference Number: DDX 824 (4 Miscellaneous including admission registers) (5 Additional Deposits).

I'm afraid I do not know when John was sent to the Akbar, I understand that children could be sent to a reformatory "school" for between 2 to 5 years.

Limerick / Co Limerick Help With A Place Name - McCanea?
« on: Tuesday 12 March 13 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
This is a long shot but could anyone offer me any help with a place name as given on the 1901 Census?

Definitely Co Limerick, appears to read McCanea, could also be Macania or Mcanea.

I've googled it no end but without success.Obviously it's down to how the enumerator interpreted it so the spelling could be way off. Guessing it must have been a small townland somewhere in Co Limerick. A needle in a hay stack!

Many thanks.

« on: Sunday 14 January 07 02:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.

If poss could someone please lookup the baptisms of Harriet(t) Howell c1832 and her sister Hannah Howell c1833, most likely Rodborough as entered on the 1851 census.  I believe their father was Edward James Howell and their mother Ann.  Could I also request a search for the marriage of Edward & Ann?

Many thanks.

Kibbie.
