World War Two / WW11 Commonwealth War Graves North Yorkshire
« on: Monday 29 June 20 15:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I live a stones throw from the Commonwealth War Graves in Harrogate North Yorkshire. This cemetery has 950 war graves....2/3 are Canadian but there are also Australian and New Zealand service men buried there.

If anyone wants a photo of a grave there, I am more than willing to take one for them

I am helping my sister in law research her family and was wondering if anyone had access to newspaper archives for the Great Yarmouth area.

Her uncle died on 20/05/1983  in Great Yarmouth and we believe he drowned. We were wondering if there had been any mention of this in the local paper.

Thanks Norma

Hi

My uncle William Findlay  born 1919 did national service. I know he was a gunner and spent time in Aden. I have his service number but do not know which regiment he was with?

Can anyone give me any pointers in how I can find this information.

Thanks

« on: Friday 08 April 11 16:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi I was wondering if anyone could find a death/obit for this couple. They are in Saskatoon in the 1916 census. They were both born in Scotland and Helens maiden name was Ross.

I have the details of their two children John Kemp and Eliza Ellen Crow (nee Kemp)

Alexander was my great great grandfathers brother and the only one of his siblings I don't have a death for.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Ross & Cromarty / William McKenzie Avoch and sister Janet
« on: Saturday 25 September 10 17:33 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what happened to my GT Grandfathers brother William and his sister Janet bc 1851.

He was born on 26/1857 in Avoch

His parents were Janet Gray and Alexander McKenzie (labourer)

I think I found William in the 1861 census with his mother and sister at Dock His mum is recorded as being a Quarriers wife. There is no trace of Alexander or my grt grandfather Donald (have Alexander, Janet and Donalds death certs They all died in Aberdeen).

Then I am stuck. Can anyone find William or his sister Janet on any further census

South Africa / Alexander Allan 1882 Aberdeenshire Scotland
« on: Saturday 08 May 10 17:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am led to believe that Alexander Allan emigrated to South Africa and married there. I have no record of when or where he married but have been told he had 2 daughters ( Jean and Mary) and 1 son

I have also been told his daughter Jean married twice and her 2nd husband was Dan Le-loux

Alexanders parents were Lessel Allan and Mary McIntosh and Alexander was my grandfathers brother, Unfortunately there is no-one left in the family to ask

Any help would be appreciated
