Westmorland / Ellwood
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 15:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the parents of a George ELLWOOD (my GG uncle!), born 1812 in Westmorland (probably Dufton). I believe his mother's name was Jane.

Thanks in anticipation.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / George CHEESEMAN
« on: Sunday 12 October 08 00:15 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find any details of a George CHEESEMAN, born in Sittingbourne around 1865. According to the 1901 census he was a gas labourer, married to Georgina xxxxx. They had several kids, one of whom, Ethel Maud (b ca. 1900 in Greenwich) married my great-uncle Joseph Havelock Erskine.
I can't find any trace of George's marriage to Georgina, but it would likely to have been around 1884, assuming of course, that all the kids shown in the 1901 were theirs and legitimate.

Cork / Healy

I'm trying to find any history of an aunt of mine, Mary Ellen HEALY, who was born in 1909 in Youghal (?), Co Cork.
From her marriage certificate (1942), her father was shown as Patrick Healy, a licensed victualler, presumably in Cork.

Thanks!

Northumberland / McCarter
« on: Sunday 17 February 08 16:13 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the death of my great great grandfather Thomas McCarter, born ca 1834, who died, I believe, between 1865 and the 1871 census.
At the 1861 census he was living in Albion Row, Byker, Newcastle, and was a potter by trade.
I'm unable to find his death in FreeBMD, despite trying several variations on his surname!
Perhaps somebody may know of a likely graveyard where I might find a headstone, assuming that he died/was buried at Byker.

Thanks!

Durham / Wayman

I'm trying to find the children and the death date of Nicholas Wayman, b 18 Nov 1764 at Sunderland. He married a Mary Camsey on 16 Aug 1784; she died in 1811.
I believe one or two references show him as 'Weyman', but I'm pretty certain that it's the same bloke!

Thanks -

Durham / Annison
« on: Sunday 22 July 07 21:09 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find details of a family/families called Annison around the Sunderland area. I can go back to a Rowland Annison born ca. 1580, but there were loads of branches of the family (lots of males were called Ralph for some reason!). Some names and dates I've gleaned from the internet and from gravestones, but a few don't quite seem to tie up exactly.

Durham / Ousby

I wonder if anyone knows anything about a Robert OUSBY who married a Mary BELL in Gateshead in Q1 1931?
They were the parents of a former colleague of mine, and I suspect that Robert may be related to a Joseph Ousby (b 1831 in Westmorland) in my tree. :-\

Westmorland / Stubbs/Hugginson
« on: Sunday 06 May 07 22:51 BST (UK)  »
In my family tree I've come across yet another couple from Westmorland! It seems that John (Fawcett?) Stubbs married Margaret Hugginson on 6 Jan 1808 at Kirkby Stephen. If my hunch is correct they moved to Sunderland and Margaret died in 1818.
Does anybody please have any info on the Stubbs' or the Hugginsons? I have an idea that John's parents were Thomas Stubbs and Elizabeth Fawcett, BICBW...

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / George MASON
« on: Tuesday 30 January 07 23:29 GMT (UK)  »
I've hit a bit of a brick wall tracing the provenance of my GGGF George MASON, who, according to the 1881 census, was born around 1823 in Romsey, Hants. He was a mariner (chief mate), and died in 1892 in Sunderland, which is where he settled.
I have an idea (but am not certain) that he was christened on 31 Aug 1823, and that his parents were John and Frances.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not familiar with Hampshire, and it's a long way to travel to search local records!
