Sussex Lookup Requests / early Mew's possibles please?
« on: Friday 08 August 08 19:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

I've had no luck with my Mew tree before Thomas Mew c1670. He lived in Framfield until he died in 1699, although he married in Falmer. The rest of my Mew ancestors stayed in and around the Framfield/Buxted/Uckfield area for 200 years.
I wonder if anyone has any Mew's recorded within a few miles of Framfield in the 15-1600's that may tie in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / William Rowse born Spitalfields?
« on: Sunday 01 July 07 21:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi all

I have a brick wall with William Rowse. He marries Rebecca Neil in 1803, Whitechapel & the furthest back I can get for him is a note on IGI that he was born c1776 in Spitalfields.

Does anyone have access to baptisms for this area? Your help would be greatly appreciated  :)

Thank you for taking the time to look.

Hi all.

I'm looking for the baptism info for George Mew born c1811 Uckfield.

Hi all.

Is there any chance you could clean up my husbands grandmother for me please? It is the only photo he has of his paternal grandparents, so is very precious to him!

Thank you kindly in advance

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1891 census look up please!
« on: Sunday 13 May 07 20:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi all.

I'm trying to tie up my Cousens research & they don't seem keen to be found! I've struggled through & with quite a bit of help I'm down to this last bit of census info needed.

I'm looking for Arthur William Cousens b 1860 Marylebone.

In 1881 he was listed as a furniture salesman boarding in Hackney & died just before the 1901 census in Wandsworth.

Thank you in advance.

East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Cousens look up in Edinburgh please
« on: Wednesday 02 May 07 09:58 BST (UK)  »
Morning all.

I'm trying to trace Henry Cousens born 1826 Titchfield, Hampshire, England.
He was enlisted as a private in the Sappers & Miners in 1847 & married a Margaret Fitzmaurice in Edinburgh in April 1852.

Could anyone find a census return for him in Edinburgh in either 1851 or 1861 please?

Many thanks in advance

Hi all.

I can't seem to track down some missing Cousens relatives. I have found them before in 1891, but a few years back. I'm registered with ancestry, but they can't seem to pick it up.

In 1891 they were living at 8 Aldred Road, Hampstead. The family unit consisted of the following;

Robert Henry Cousens 29 Head
Rosanna Cousens ?? Wife
Robert WR Cousens 8months Son
Eliza Cousens 55 (widow) Mother

I know both Robert Henry & Eliza were still alive in 1901 & I assume the child Robert was too, but Robert Henry, I beleive, would have been a widower.

Any help tracking this family unit down, especially in 1901 would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Broadway Court, Westminster?
« on: Thursday 26 April 07 21:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi all.

I've been passed a telegram dating from 1914 that shows a relative writing to his mother, telling her that he had just been called up for war. I'm interested to find out where the address given was, if its still standing & anything about it I can really!

The telegram was sent to; Cousens & Harding, Broadway Court, Westminster.
I've tried looking on streetmap, but to no avail.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance  :)

Family History Beginners Board / finding a death index by name only?
« on: Monday 09 April 07 21:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi all.

Is there any way of finding a death index for someone without having an idea of the place or year of death, or is it a case of looking through every year & quarter until they turn up?
I'm looking for someone who was born in 1869 & was alive at the time of the 1901 census, but have no trace of her afterwards.

Thanks in advance!
