Surrey Lookup Requests / Langley Larne Sutton
« on: Wednesday 11 January 23 18:52 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening
I should be grateful for help from Sutton experts-I am cataloguing a collection of letters written in1930s from an address given as 'The Croft ,Langley Lane, Sutton ,Surrey.  Neither C1921 or 1939 Register  give The Croft as a house name although I get the impression that it  might  have been the name of a road or a district.
II can't search the census etc by name as the  writer signs with a nickname.  I'd be grateful for any suggestions

Dorset / Wessex Tea Rooms Dorchester
« on: Wednesday 11 January 23 18:10 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening
I am cataloguing  a collection of letters which includes reference to the Wessex Tea Rooms.  They were written in 1930s.  I wonder if any Dorset expert could let me have the full address (Google gives 2 current addresses, but I realise that these may not the one I need).  Also (big ask!) the name of the people running it?
I should be grateful for any help

Good evening
I am cataloguing a collection of letters, some of which include reference to an Albert Matthews. He served in WW2, was taken prisoner, then returned to Canada. I wonder if anyone could help me to  discover his wife's name  (she signed letters as Podge). They lived in ?Hometon NB (script is not very clear) during 1940I know nothing about Canadian records, I'm afraid, so forgive me if this is an impossible request

Hertfordshire / BOORMAN Ardeley /Walkern/Cromer
« on: Sunday 24 July 22 18:49 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace members of the Boorman family. 've got info about  them from the mid 19th century, but I've not had much success with the earlier people

I know that William Alfred Boorman was a blacksmith & miller  & he was born about 1820. However the suggestion (from Ancestry) that he was baptised in Lewisham seems  a bit dodgy as the family were strict Baptists & WAB was buried in grounds of the Baptist chapel  in Walkern & the minister was one of his executors.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions-

Northumberland / James Glynn?Elizabeth Turnbull
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 22:47 BST (UK)  »
Good evening
I'm totally new to Northumberland research, so please forgive obvious idiocy:

I'm trying to trace James Glynn b 1773ish who I think may have married an Elizabeth Turnbull.  He was father of Joseph Glynn  & operated Ouseburn foundry from about 1817,
The family are easy to follpw as the 19th century went on, but I'm focused on the 18th century Glynns

I should be grateful for any information at all -this is a new enterprisse for me

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Bounds of Ringwood
« on: Saturday 28 July 18 12:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi a squeak for help as I'm totally new to Hampshire research.

Among some Scottish papers I've discovered a family Bible, which relates to the BOUND family of Ringwood- John & Emily (nee Earley) & their daughters Elizabeth (b 1844) & Mary Ann (b1846).

If anybody is researching the Bounds I should be very pleased to be in touch with them - especially if they could give me a clue on a connection with Scotland

Thank you

Norfolk / Mystery people
« on: Friday 14 April 17 21:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I recently bought a 19th cent photo album from a charity shop.  From the clothes, it was compiled between 1860ish & 1890iah.  The photographers all worked in Norfolk, except for  a couple in the Edgeware Road.  The people seem to be modestly, but well dressed - nothing flashy.

Inscription on the front page says 'Belonged to Aunt Maria.

Names -not many: 'Uncle Charlie':  'D's  Uncle Charlie Australia':  & 'William Watson Daddy's father'

Does this ring any bells with Watson connections?  I rescued the album but I'd be very happy for it to go back to the family

Best
