Does anyone know if the headstones have been transcribed? I'm trying to find a relative who I believe was buried there.

Nottinghamshire / Nottinghamshire Methodist burial records
« on: Sunday 16 February 20 16:59 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the Methodist burial records for circuits neighbouring Gainsborough in Lincolnshire?

Despite an extensive search in Gainsborough where they were born, bred and died, I've not been able to find the burial for my 3 x great grandparents and one of the daughters. Even staff at Lincolnshire Archives are completely baffled as they don't show up in Gainsborough General (municipal cemetery) records or in the burial records for the North Warren non-conformist cemetery also located in the town.

They were Methodists and here's what I know from their respective death certificates:
  • Henry PERKINS, died 27 July 1880 aged 82, at Ebenezer Place, Gainsborough and was allegedly one of the first ministers to preach in the United Methodist Free Church, Gainsborough.
  • Harriett PERKINS died 7 October 1883 aged 80, at 3 Dickenson's Terrace, Gainsborough.
  • Lydia PERKINS daughter of Henry and Harriett, died 13 September 1851 aged 8, at Bulls Head Yard, Church Street, Gainsborough.

Henry's mother was originally from Blyth, Nottinghamshire and in the Stamford Mercury (Friday 2 April 1852), there is reference to a local preacher called PERKINS having been "dropped" for having preached for the Reformers in the Retford Circuit.

I'm wondering if they may have been buried over the border in Nottinghamshire.

The Common Room / John Rylands University Library
« on: Sunday 05 January 20 18:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I wasn't sure where to post this but I wondered if anyone out there would be willing to visit the John Rylands University Library in Manchester.

I've hit a massive brick wall in my family history with trying to locate the burial place of my 3x great grandparents who were members of the United Free Methodist Church in Gainsborough, Lincs. The library has a book "Gareth Lloyd, Index of Obituaries of members ... of the United Methodist Free Church[es] from 1857 to 1907 (Manchester, 1993)", and because I don't live in the area, I wondered if there was someone nearer who would be willing to take a look for me.

I know exactly when and where my 3x great grandparents died and also of one of their daughters who I've also not been able to locate a burial for.

Thanks in advance.

Lincolnshire / Mother's maiden name
« on: Monday 02 September 19 18:38 BST (UK)  »
Here is the birth entry for a baby girl who sadly died 5 weeks later. She is buried in the same plot as my 2 x great grandparents, but as far as I can establish she is not related to them. I'm having problems trying to decipher what the mother's maiden name is. The GRO birth index has it as MORTON, but I don't think it's correct.

Kent / Margate Cemetery - photo request
« on: Monday 13 August 18 11:51 BST (UK)  »
I've recently discovered that Elizabeth LEWIN (died 11 October 1968) is buried in a purchased grave in Margate Cemetery. I don't know if she has a headstone and as I'm not from the area, I can't easily check. I've already searched findagrave but there's currently 425 memorials listed and no entry for the Lewin surname.

If anyone is able to help, I would be most grateful. I can PM the details and map locator given to me by the crematorium staff.

Thanks in advance.

If anyone has access to the electoral registers for 1939 and 1945, I would be very grateful for any assistance given. I'm hoping that Elizabeth LEWIN is registered at this address.
