Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA Help!
« on: Tuesday 07 September 21 00:09 BST (UK)  »
Our great grandfathers were brothers.   We have both had DNA test done via same Company and no DNA has been confirmed between us.  My sibling has also taken DNA test and he does not get a match to any of the individuals on the line of our g.grandfather's brother and nor do I?   Is this usual?  I'd surely appreciate some advice, thanks

Dublin / Marriage Certificate 4 Apr 1872 Dublin - CRITCHLEY - MCCATHIE
« on: Tuesday 29 May 18 09:34 BST (UK)  »
I am posting this as would be interested to hear views from  other family historians.   The marriage took place at St Lukes Church of Ireland and some years back I downloaded the certificate I think from the Irish Family History Foundation website or similar. I suspect this certificate was the original.    The groom William MCathie was shown as "widower", full age, cabinetmaker, son of George, a painter.  To my surprise I now find a copy of the same record on irishgenealogy.ie website and there the groom is "bachelor" - everything else matches.
I suspect the groom may have been married 1stly on 5 Dec 1862 Dublin Castle, to Isabella Johnston, however I have not as yet gone for that certificate as my interest is in the 1872 marriage.  I can find no record of a death of Isabella McCathie (first wife)  1869-1872 Dublin or elsewhere but not surprising as 4 children of the first marriage were registered under variations of the McCathie Surname. I do have details of births & baptisms but nothing thereafter.  There were twins born in 1869 (McKetey) one of whom was "Isabella".
William and Margaret Critchley had 3 children from the 1872 marriage but I can find no record of birth of daughter Isabella thought to have been born abt 1873 in Dublin.  The other two children were born in Scotland (William's birthplace) and in Queensland, Australia.  William McCathie died in 1879 in Queensland.     Leaving the possibility of a first marriage out of the equation how should I view the two 1872 marriage certificates as to Groom's marital status?!!   I have put this in the "too hard basket"   Many thanks   Alma

Anglesey / Rev William DANIEL of Anglesea, 1937
« on: Saturday 28 May 16 09:26 BST (UK)  »
I have the following marriage lines:

DANIEL-PELOW - On 30 Oct 1937 Christ Church, West Didsbury, Manchester by Rev J L Street AKC, Curate and Rev William Daniel (father of the groom)of Llanfaclog? (hard to decipher), Anglesea, Trevor Gwynfor Daniel, Southport to Frances Mary Kane (May) Pelow, late of Dublin.

I know Frances M K Daniel died abt 1940 registered Bodmin, Cornwall but I know little about her husband Trevor - I have been told he was from Wales and his name would suggest this possibly.   Any assistance appreciated...I cannot seem to find Trevor in census records...His wife was born Dublin in 1907. Any assistance with seeking of further details of Trevor Gwynor Daniel appreciated.  I may have to opt for his marriage certificate.   Thanks Alma

Ayrshire / McCutchion James & Bridget (nee Dooloughty)
« on: Wednesday 15 January 14 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
This couple married in 1855 Swansea, UK.  They had at least 2 children - Elizabeth and Robert born in Dalry, Ayrshire,Scotland.  I am trying to locate details on Bridget's parents.  She was born in Ireland and appears in 1851 census UK Swansea as "lodger".  She may be listed in the Scotland's People website under Catholic deaths where I believe less detail is given than in RGO deaths.   Would my best hope be her marriage certificate in Swansea?  I think the family appear in 1861 census Dalry,Ayrshire,Scotland.  (Various spellings make this a tad difficult to search)

Warm regards

London and Middlesex / ISAAC PARKER (DAUGHTER REBECCA MARRIED JACOB GOLDSTEIN)
« on: Monday 01 June 09 00:13 BST (UK)  »
Further to other posts re Goldstein family and thanks to Justin and others for assisting greatly.

During the last month I came across web pages with details of Isaac Parker and his daughter Rebecca who married Jacob Goldstein in 1893.  Rebecca & Jacobs two adopted girls were named and also dates but I have been unable to find the pages again.  Isaac ran the "Montifiore Arms" in Houndsditch and later lived in Brighton, Sussex.  I think his wife was Sarah.   The page had heaps of info contributed by many folk and may have been one on Jewish families.  Others may have more joy in finding this page.. Maybe one of the adopted children girls was "Betty" .   HELP I have spent 4 hours trying to recoup my stupidity...Cannot find in the history on my PC either...Sent an email via the website but no return email yet... A Pity.

Looking for any descendants of Morris GOLDSTEIN  who probably arrived in UK after 1851 from Poland or Russia  & his wife Rosetta Harris Goldstein, born Whitechapel.  In 1881 of 4 St Marks St, a master tailor. Interviewed by Wm Booth about conditions of the poor in the area.   Later of 70 Sandringham Street, Dalston.  Had a large family and a daughter was a Mrs Lewis White of Brighton.  Morris died 26 Jan 1920 aged 90yrs and Rosetta died 1933.  A son Henry died in 925, Dalson, probably unmaried.  The family were of the Jewish faith.

Thanks

Thanks
