Ireland / Account Disabled Irish Family History Foundation
« on: Monday 21 December 09 08:13 GMT (UK)  »
Received an email that my account on the IFHF has being disabled because i was doing too many free index searches. Most of these were for the benefit of fellow rootschatters.

So much for the index part being free.

The email advised me that i would need to start using their pay per view facility to continue.

Australia / Patrick CLIFFORD - Murwillumbah, NSW
« on: Monday 07 December 09 02:12 GMT (UK)  »
Just on the off chance is there anyone that could do a death certificate look up for Patrick Clifford who died July 10, 1917 Bannet St. MURWILLUMBAH from the NSW death index website i know his father was John and mother was Margaret. I have this information already.
I am living in Ireland so would be expensive to order the death certificate. I am hoping to confirm his mother's maiden name was Margaret O'Shea.
Also any other information would be great on this person.

World War One / World War One Medal's Faith
« on: Tuesday 10 November 09 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
I have being thinking alot about two family members who died in WW1.

They came from Cork, Ireland. And was kinda hidden afterwards that they ever died or served in the War due to anti-British sentiment.

I am wondering when they died i presume most likely that their parents received their medals of honour. I would give anything to find the medals in a way i could honour them more then.

What have people mostly found happened the medals in this situation.

Lost or sold in hard times? Dumped out in a spring cleaning (I hope not)

Their families would have being in County Cork, Ireland.

Just wondering how do i post a link and give it a name i have noticed a few people doing this on the boards and would like to know how to.

For example this one

http://locdat.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/ipac20/ipac.jsp?session=12J257C3308X9.54081&profile=cen&menu=search&submenu=basic&ts=1252573607546#focus

Ireland / Irish Research in the future
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 17:04 BST (UK)  »
Yesterday i attended my local registration office and using the details on the familysearch pilot site was able to get a birth cert i required from 1879.

While there i was talking to staff members who told me that all the births have now being scanned into computer format and they simply enter the name and birth year select the correct birth and hit print to give the birth cert.

This facility is available for all births back to 1864 and they are working on the deaths and marriages.

I know at the moment this is only available for GRO staff. But hopefully eventually might be a website where researchers can go on-line and using the index on family search select the correct birth/marriage and death and then pay maybe 5 euro hit print have the record straight away. Instead of waiting weeks for each record i order.

We would probably all end up bankrupt but would be fun :)

Here's dreaming
