England / Marriage cert mistakes

Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible that a father's name could be written incorrectly on a marriage certificate? I have a marriage cert that says the father is a John when I am fairly certain (?) he was a James. This is going back to the time when not every one could read and write. Maybe someone else has come across this.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / 1910 in Camelford

Hi, All,

I have 7 male members of my Cornish Langdon family who died in 1910. Maye this is pure coincidence. They worked at the Delabole slate mine. Is anyone aware of a quarry disaster at that time, or any other reason why so many men died in the same year. A long shot, I know, but worth a try.

Hi, All.
Could someone please help me to sort this out?

In 1841 I have found John Chenoweth 70
Susan Chenoweth 20
Elinor Chenoweth 8
John Chenoweth 2
Henry Chenoweth 1
Sarah Prout 5

They are in Tregoodswell, Lanteglos.
The John and Susan fit my family - Susan Chenoweth, c 1820 married John Prout in 1843, and her father was John Chenoweth, c 1773. However, I have tried to trace Elinor Chenoweth, John Chenoweth, Henry Chenoweth and Sarah Prout from that census with no success.

Does anyone have any ideas where they fit in?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, All,
Is there anyone who can help me find out what happened yo my ancestor, Isaac Prout, please?
In 1851 he is with his family in Lanteglos.

John Prout, 45, head, born St Teath
Susan, wife, 32, Lanteglos
Jane, daughter, 15, St Teath
Elizabeth, daughter, 6 Lanteglos
Isaac, son, 4, Lanteglos
Edward, son, 4, Lanteglos
Caroline, daughter, 1m, Lanteglos

I can not find Isaac in any later census records, nor can I find a death or a likely marriage.

I believe that my G Grandmother died in the Liverpool area, possibly Bootle, c 1935, aged about 66. Could anyone tell me the date, please? Her name was Eliza Breadmore, wife of Albert.

Hi, All,

Can anyone help me finding the origins of my Dart family?
I have a Watson Dart c 1850 of Sunderland, married to Mary Ramsay, c 1850, of Cramlington, Northumberland. In 1881 they were in Wingate with their children John, Elizabeth, Charles, Philip and Watson.
Watson Sr's father was John and his mother was Elizabeth Watson. I'm afraid I don't know their births or birthplaces. I believe that the Dart family originated in Devon and were connected to the Chenoweth branch of my tree and I am trying to find the connection.

Hi,all,
I have a William Prout in the 1851 census in Tregargot St Teath age 50, Head, M, Farmer, b Lanteglos, with his family and a Philipa Chidley, visitor, married. 47. Lab wife.
I know that Philipa was a Prout before marriage. She was the daughter of John Prout c 1773 and Phillipa Davey, c 1774. She married William (variously Chidley, Chidey, Chudleigh)
Is it possible that someone can tell me the relationship between William Prout and Philipa? I assume there must be a family connection.
I can find many Prouts from the St Teath area at that time, but I am finding it extremely difficult to tie them together.
I am thinking they may be brother and sister, but am not sure.

Durham Lookup Requests / Robert Galloway

Hi, All,
Can anyone please help me find out about Robert Galloway. His Father married Lily Pready in Sunderland in 1914. A daughter, Doreen was born in 1915 in Stockton. Robert must have been born before the end of 1917, or possibly the beginning of 1918, as his Father was killed in WW1 in 1917. His mother died in 1919.
It was always said that Robert was brought up by his maternal Grandmother in Wales after the death of his Mother. Members of my family can remember Robert visiting them in the early 1940's.
I can find no trace of a birth record. I have tried various spellings to no avail.

Hi, All,
Can anyone help me with information on Mary Allen. She was born c 1889 and was either born or lived in Whitwick, Leics. Her parents were Martin and Bridget. I believe she had siblings named Richard, Veronica, Margaret and Bridget. I know that in 1916 she married Thomas Burke from Ireland, but I know nothing of her life before.
