Lincolnshire Resources & Offers / Offer of help in Louth
« on: Wednesday 15 August 12 12:46 BST (UK)  »
I hope I am posting this in the corect area, I am sure it will be pointed out if I am not!

I live in Louth and in a roundabout way for all the help I have recieved, I am offering my services for people who would like photos taken of Churches, headstones, landmarks etc in the local area.  Or for any other assistance I may be able to offer.

Please bear in mind I am not from Louth, I am not a font of local knowledge! also I am not researching any families from this area myself. Other than that I will help as I can

Monaghan / Can I request a lookup?
« on: Sunday 11 December 11 18:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have two lookup requests, both for FHL films. Am I allowed to post the details?
Getting to my nearest centre would involve me taking a day off work, two bus journeys each way and would take over an hour and a half, each way.  Last time I did this I got there and it was closed, although I had been told by phone it would be open, most frustrating.
If a lookup is possible I can give the full details.
Cheers

Dublin / FHL records
« on: Saturday 10 December 11 19:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Back on the genealogy trail again after some basic information regarding what details are on a FHL Film for a Civil Birth Registration.  The birth was in 1924. I have the film number etc and mothers maiden name. I just want to know what else is likely to be recorded ie Fathers name, place of birth etc
I can not easily access my nearest centre so I need to know if it is worthwhile!
Cheers

Dublin / Charles SMYTH, Artist and Picture Dealer
« on: Monday 01 August 05 16:06 BST (UK)  »
Time for my regular request regarding my gggfather Charles SMYTH, Artist and Picture Dealer, believed to be from Dublin.  His son Frederick was born in 1859 in Dublin(?) and raised in the Wicklow mountains according to family legend. He emigrated to Liverpool in 1881 and from then on is well documented, it is his early life in Ireland that I am missing information on.
I do not know the name of Charles's wife, where they married or where they lived and died.
There is a family connection to John DILLON MP, Frederick was his nephew we believe, although this has yet to verified.
I did make contact with a Brian Dillon-Smyth with regards to the connection, but I have not heard from him in some time now, so if you are out there Brian, please get in touch.
There is no family link to America as far as I am aware, I am adding this to hopefully avoid my in box being clogged up with requests for information regarding links to the US!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Any help or information as always will be appreciated!
