Dublin / Quick lookup at the National Library of Ireland
« on: Tuesday 02 February 21 01:51 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone going to the NLI and could do a quick lookup for me, that might result in a 200 year old brick wall???

Family lore says a Captain WILKINSON fought in Sir Hardress WALLER'S regiment in the mid-1600's and was granted land in Bantry, Wexford (source: Cromwellian Settlement of Ireland by Prendergast).

The Books of Survey and Distribution record ownership before the confiscations, and who the new proprietors were. This, I assume, should list Captain Wilkinson. I'm wondering if the The Books of Survey and Distribution mentions his actual name and maybe any other details?

The Books for several counties are online, alas, not for Wexford, hence this request.

Here's the catalogue reference:
http://sources.nli.ie/Record/MS_UR_067491/Holdings#tabnav

I'd be grateful for a photo of any pages where there is a WILKINSON mention in Wexford.

Thank you so much in advance if you can help!

Cheers,

Tim Wilkinson

Hi!

Looking for the exact birth day and name of her mother for Eliza ROWE (married John MERITON), my 4th great grandmother. She was born about 1803, Penzance to Michael ROWE.

I'm also wondering where she may have been buried: Eliza MERITON, died 21 May 1852 Phillack. Also looking for the burial place of her husband John MERITON who died 30 April 1868 in Camborne.

Thanks for helping!

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Almondbury Parish - ARMITAGE
« on: Friday 11 October 13 06:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi there!

Trying to find the exact birthdate for my 3 x great grandfather and details on his parents.

He is David ARMITAGE, born about 1831 Almondbury (1851 Census). He immigrated to Tasmanian in 1856. I believe his parents were David & Sarah TILLOTSON (that would be 5 known generations named David ARMITAGE!!).

There is a David ARMITAGE born in 1831 in Huddersfield to a Joseph and Hannah, but that is not him.

Thanks for any help!

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Hadleigh Parish - CALVER
« on: Friday 11 October 13 06:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi!

Is anyone able to look up this marriage between John CALVER and Lydia ALEXANDER;

marriage:   18 Jan 1828 —Hadleigh, Suffolk, England
spouse:   John Calver
record title:   England Marriages, 1538–1973
groom's name:   John Calver
bride's name:   Lydia Alexander
marriage date:   18 Jan 1828
marriage place: Hadleigh, Suffolk, England
indexing project (batch) number:   M13241-1
system origin:   England-EASy
source film number:   9

I'm wondering if the parents are mentioned, or even the witnesses? I'm guessing if they are listed it would be in the above record, but I'd just like to check as I've hit a brickwall with both of them.

Will post the following in a separate message:

John CALVER who was born between 1797-1801 in Newbourn, Suffolk, so need birthdate and parents. The same for his wife Lydia ALEXANDER, born about 1811 in Charsfield, Suffolk.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Wexford / Enniscorthy - CoI cemeteries and WILKINSON family
« on: Sunday 26 April 09 20:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I’m excited...I’m going to make a 2nd trip to Enniscorthy in 1-2 weeks to research my WILKINSON family (associated families: Connor, Barber, Maynard, Norton).

Can someone tell me which are the Church of Ireland cemeteries in and near Enniscorthy?

And if anyone has some Wexford Wilkinson info please let me know!

Cheers

Tim Wilkinson
