World War One / Thomas Usher HMS Vengeance
« on: Thursday 24 January 13 19:52 GMT (UK)  »
I have a family photo of three men, one an elderly man wearing 3 medals, one a sailor from HMS Vengeance and another one man in a suit. I also have a medal and ribbon which I have identified as World War 1 service medal.  The ribbon has dark blue, white and orange vertical stripes. The sailor is identified on the back of the photo as Thomas Usher  HMS Vengeance, and the elderly man may be John Usher the father of my relative Harry Usher. I have not been able to find out anything about either men's war service although I have searched on Find My Past.  Any ideas pleas.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Brooks Nacton
« on: Wednesday 02 May 12 15:54 BST (UK)  »
Could someone look in the parish registers for Nacton please to find the baptisms of Herbert BROOKS between 1870 and 1875 and Arthur BROOKS around 1878.  I am interested to know who the parents are as I suspect they may be illegitimate children of Sarah BROOKS who was born Charsfield in 1852/3. I have found possible births on the bmd register but that does not give the names of parents and they are not on the IGI. Both boys are on the 1881 census for Charsfield living with their grandparents and Sarah unmarried and on the 1891 census living with the Fisk family.  I believe their mother has married George Fisk in 1885.
Any help would be valued

Suffolk Lookup Requests / BROOK/S Charsfield
« on: Saturday 28 April 12 17:29 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please look in the parish registers for Charsfield for children of William BROOKS and Eliza(nee Bird) from 1848 when they were married. I already have Isaac 1849, Sarah 1852, Eliza 1855, Emma 1857, Charles 1862 and Henry 1868 died 1868.
I feel there are some missing as I am trying to tie in grandchildren on the 1881 census who are living with the family and whose mother is Sarah. She must have remarried for on the 1891 census she is Sarah Fisk.
Thank you
