Australia / George and Agnes (LISK) MOLLISON Scotland Dunedin Melbourne
« on: Monday 05 September 11 08:45 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help please. Am searching for  the ship that gr grandparents George Mollison and Agnes (Lisk) and family arrived on in Melbourne from Dunedin N.Z.

George and Agnes and baby James Mollison sailed to N.Z. on the Cartsburn 8th April 1874 from Glasgow, arriving Canterbury July 1874.

3 children were born in Dunedin (baby James died soon after arrival in 1874).

I feel that they would have come to Australia around the late 1880s.    However to date I have not had any success in finding the ship they arrived on in Melbourne.

Any info gratefully received.

Ireland / Mary Glenholme County Antrim
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 23:52 BST (UK)  »
My search is for gr grandmother Mary Glenholme (Falconbridge). I believe Mary married William Falconbridge, perhaps in Larne or Lisburn?  Their eldest son named John Kennedy Falconbridge, born Coleraine 1819.

Mary wrote "Vincit Veritas" which was published in Dublin and Belfast around 1829. The book apparently well received.

Mary died in 1834 in Burt House Donegal.

Any information on Glenholme family much appreciated.

If anyone is interested I have more information on this family which emigrated to Australia in 1880 with 6 children.

Catherine Quinn, father John Quinn farmer Donegal, married Alexander Falconbridge (father William Customs officer Donegal) in Donegal and died 12 years later in Australia in 1893 leaving 9 living children in Melbourne.

Any information about Catherine's parents in Donegal greatly appreciated.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / George FOLKES Worcester
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 03:36 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please look up the Folkes/Foulkes family of Worcestershire please? George Folkes married Eliza Parsons 1831 Hartlebury (son John George Folkes married St Peter Worcester to Phoebe Jones).

Eliza's parents may have been John Parsons and Elizabeth?

Cannot find parents of George in Worcester but have been told there is a Welsh connection with the family.

John and Phoebe migrated to Australia in 1850.

Thank you, Valerie

East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Falconbridge - Prestonpans 1723
« on: Friday 27 March 09 00:46 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone please help me?  Am looking for a marriage - John Falconbridge (b around 1723) to Jean Boyd around 1755, Prestonpans.  Son William born 1755. Apart from the marriage of Samuel Falconbridge to Mary Brown in 1786 I am unable to find any more info on this family.

A Samuel Falconbridge was involved with Roebuck's vitriol works in Prestonpans and was dismissed in 1749 (apparently then went to Shropshire).

This family were nonconformists.

Any suggestions where to obtain info prior to 1723 greatly appreciated.

A particular name I am searching for would be Alexander b around 1760.  Other names in the family could be Thomas, John, James.

Thank you, Valerie
