Northamptonshire / Stanwick Northamptonshire Burials?
« on: Thursday 29 October 09 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi  I am looking for the burial place of a relative. She lived and died in Stanwick and her children were sent off to relatives to live in Little Harrowden. The last of her children has recently died and we want to lay flowers on the grave of her mother in memory. Doos anyone know if there is a plan of the burials in the church Yard at Stanwick and if not where would they have been buried if they lived in Stanwick? Her name is Louisa Meeks and she died September 23rd 1914. Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks Lisa

Northamptonshire / mystery of Kitty Carter
« on: Wednesday 14 October 09 23:01 BST (UK)  »
Need help finding clues to a family mystery. I am looking for an Emily Palmer Abt1890. Daughter of henry and Mary Palmer, Sister to Florence, John and Rose. The 1901 census says that she was born Wellingborough Northamptonshire. However non of the children are in the 1911 census with their parents.  Emily Is said to have had a daughter know to us as Kitty Carter (could be catherine, Kathering, Kate). We don't know why she was a Carter not a Palmer. She supposidly married a man called Carter and had a son Roy and John. The family know the children but she was alsway know as Kitty Carter. She would have been born somewhere between 1905 and 1915. She later died soem time after the 2nd world war in a car accident.  I cannot seems to find Emily, or kitty on any census. so any help would be great. Also where is best to look for paper cuttings to see if i can find any clues there?

Leicestershire / Palmers of Leicestershire

My  great great Great Grandfather Joseph Palmer was a Gentleman and it has been pased down the family that they owned a business in Leicstershire. it was something to do with leather and either millinary or hoisery. I am not sure, however i have found a Palmer Brother Ltd there which was a hoisery factory. Also many of the children worked in hoisery so may indicate towards this. I would love to here more from any one who knows the history of leicestershire and may know of the Palmer family and business.

Many thanks

Northamptonshire / Rockingham's of Northamptonshire
« on: Friday 03 April 09 18:44 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone be able to look find the death of the follwoing as i want to order the certificates.

Ernest Egdar Rockingham, born 1883 Wellingborough district, married Florence Palmer 1904. They eventually seperated but I can't find his death. I have a date of around 1950

I also would love to know the christening for George Rockingham Abt.1831, Northamptonshire.
He married Mary Ann Williams 1853 and died 1876 in Wellingborough. I also don't know Ann Williams birth C: 1831, Northamptonshire (possibly Boughton)

Finally Elizabeth Goddard C:1854 Northamptonshire (possibly Irchester) She is a difficult one. She married Samuel Rockingham in 1883 and he died, she later married a George Trussler (1891, northamptonshire. We think he died around 1896. She then is seen in the 1911 census with (what was her lodger in 1901) WIlliam Pleasance! I cannot find marriages for either of these or her death around 1882. On the 1911 census she has put a question mark down as years married so she may have died as Trussler or Pleasance!

Any help would be great!
Thanks Lisa

I have no idea where in Ireland they came from as they are only on the 1841 census as a family stating Ireland. Any help would be great

Hertfordshire / CHALKLEYS & WILTSHIRES of St Ippollits and Hitchin
« on: Wednesday 01 October 08 16:12 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother Dorothy Chalkley was the Daughter of Joseph chalkley and Emma Hailey. Emma aparemtly died when my nan was young (teenager) and Joseph remarried! I can't find their marriage.
They lived in Hitchin. Josephs father was Joseph Chalkley (1845) and he married Caroline Wiltshire. Caroline was the illigitamte daughter of Charlotte Wiltshire who later married Chales BAiley. I think it was Charlotte that had a shop in st ippollits (i think?). Going back to the chalkleys. Josephs fatehr was William Chalkley and Ann turner ((1812). his father was samuel,, then Samuel again, All living in St ippollots. I have been told there are still Chalkleys there today. It would be great to get any information regarding the Chalkleys or Wiltshires
