Hi all,

I am trying to find a baptism record for my great grandfather Walter James Horne Edwards. He was born at Sharstead Hall, Willesden, Middlesex on 21st December 1880 to parents John James Horne Edwards and Elizabeth Cooke.

I think that the baptism may have taken place in Christ Church, Brondesbury, Willesden.

I have been looking for some time now but never been able to find anything.

Durham / Baptised twice in Monkwearmouth?
« on: Monday 16 June 08 15:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have been researching a Bell branch of my family from Monkwearmouth Shore, Sunderland. This question concerns the children of John Bell & Elizabeth Wealands (m. 15 Jul 1802). The had 9 children:
Barbara Bell (1803)
Elizabeth Bell (1805)
John Bell (1807)
William Wealands Bell (1809)
Thomas Bell (1810)
Robert Bell (1812)
Matthew Bell (1814)
Robert Bell (1816)
Anthony Bell (1819)

I viewed the baptism registers for both St. Peter's Church and the Dundas Street Independent Chapel.

The only one of their children I could find in the St. Peter's baptism register was this one:
~~~~~~~~-------------
Robert Bell | b.12 Jun 1812 | c.08 Jul 1812 | 4th son & 6th child of John Bell, Joiner, Nat. of Prestwick near Ponteland by his wife , Elizabeth, late Wealands, Nat. of the shore.
~~~~~~~~-------------

The Dundas Street Independent Chapel baptism register contained these 3 entries in the years 1814, 1816 and 1819.
~~~~~~~~-------------
Barbara Bell daughter of John & Elizabeth Bell
born June 5th - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1803
Elizabeth Bell daughter of the above J & E Bell
born March 2nd - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  1805
John Bell son of the above J & E Bell
born Jan 31st - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1807
William Wealands Bell son of the above
J & E Bell born Feb 2nd - - - - - - - - - - - - 1809
Thomas Bell son of the above J & E Bell
born August 2nd - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1810
Robert Bell son of the above J & E Bell
born June 12th - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  1812
Matthew Bell son of the above J & E Bell
born October 16th baptized October 31st - - - - 1814
Robert son of John and Elizabeth Bell born the twenty seventh
day of October and baptized the fourth of November one thousand
eight hundred and sixteen.
Anthony son of John and Elizabeth Bell
born March 1 1819 in Monkwearmouth
Shore in the County of Durham,
baptized March 4 1819.
~~~~~~~~-------------

Robert Bell's (1812) baptism appears in both the St. Peters register and the Dundas Street Independent Chapel register's list of their first 7 children, but I am not sure whether or not this list of their first 7 children means that they were all baptised on the same day. If so, this would mean that Robert Bell (1812) was baptised twice. Did this ever happen?

If the list of 7 children doesn't mean that they were all baptised on the same day, then why would there be such a list?

Cheers.

Hi all,

James & Harriet Edwards moved from Andover to London in the 1860's. I have found them in all censues up to 1881 but have been unable to find them in 1891 or 1901. Here's what I have on them in London.

1871: Palmerston Yard, Hampstead, London
James Edwards  Head  (35)  Carman  Hants, Andover
Harriet      "        Wife   (30)                 Hants, Andover
Edwin J     "        Son    (10)                 Hants, Andover
Frederick C    "   Son    (6)                   Sussex, Hamersome
George W     "    Son    (1)                   Middlesex, Hendon

1881: 8 Providence Place, Hampstead, London
James Edwards  Head  (42)  Carter Builders          Wilts
Harriet      "        Wife   (40)                                    Hants, Andover
Frederick C    "   Son    (18)  Bricklayer's Labourer  Sussex
George W     "    Son    (12) Scholar                        Middlesex, Hendon

Can anyone find the two parents in either 1891 or 1901. I've been on this for ages >_<"
