Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A Tidy Up & Colour if Poss Please
« on: Thursday 05 May 11 11:59 BST (UK)  »
There are only 2 pics of me as a baby, this is one of them. I have limited ability on tidying up pics but have had a go at ironing out some of the folds - rather unsuccessfully! I would hugely appreciate a tidy up on this and if it's possible I would like some colour added. My hair was blonde, dress a dusky pink with white collar and the teddy a golden yellow. Socks and shoes white and the bracelet silver. Thank you so much!!

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Trade Directories for Dunstable
« on: Tuesday 26 April 11 13:07 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping someone may have access to a trade directory for Dunstable from around 1900-1920.  I am looking for the name of a Doctor who had a practise/was living in High Street (North) Dunstable, probably number 72-74 ish (roughly where the Argos store is now).

Many Thanks

Yorkshire (North Riding) / York Gaol Prison Records
« on: Tuesday 08 March 11 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying to find out where the records are kept for York Gaol as my great grandparents were imprisoned there in 1909. So far I have tried the National Archives, North Yorkshire Records Office, York City Archives, Yorkshire County Council, York Castle Museum and the East Yorkshire Records Office - who directed me back to the National Archives!  If anyone has further suggestions where to try or indeed knows where they are I would be most grateful!

Many Thanks

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Scarborough, anyone need photos?
« on: Wednesday 01 September 10 11:06 BST (UK)  »
I am going to Scarborough for a few days next week to do some "graveyard trawling".  If anyone wants photos of gravestones or of the surrounding areas let me know.

Hi

Thanks for your offer to look up names in the directories.  Could I ask you to look for the surname Abram please, I am especially interested in those in Scarborough, Seamer and Snainton.

Many thanks in advance.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Melrose Street, Scarborough. Institution
« on: Thursday 19 March 09 14:14 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered 3 of my great uncles were registered on the 1911 census as being "inmates" at an institution in Melrose Street, Scarborough.  Unfortunately the name of the institution is missing from the transcript and there is no space for it on the actual census page. I am reluctant to spend more credits looking at the other pages as I have no idea how many pages there may be before I find the address.  I think it must have been a childrens home of some description. Icannot find the name of the institution by "googling".  Is anyone able to tell me the name of the place or where I may be able to find it out?

Thanks

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Cumboots Scalby
« on: Wednesday 18 March 09 12:06 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered my grandmother on the 1911 census living with a George & Eliza LUMLEY at Cumboots Scalby. I have googled to death for more info/pictures on Cumboots and the Lumleys, nothing much to date.  My grandmother was no relation to these people, she spent some time in the workhouse before "appearing" at this address in 1911. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might find more info on Cumboots or the Lumleys please?
Thanks in advance

Offaly (Kings) / NOLAN & MORAN Tullamore
« on: Monday 26 January 09 12:55 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find any information on Michael Nolan and his spouse Teresa Moran. They resided in Tullamore in the early 1900s. Their son Thomas Joseph Nolan was born in Tullamore in 19XX. My subscription to Ancestry has just expired but I was unable to find any online records on there for Offaly anyway. Are there other searchable websites for Offaly? I am researching for a friend and have not searched outside of England before.

Many thanks for any pointers
Sharon

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / A Little Tidy Up Needed Please
« on: Thursday 22 May 08 20:19 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone is able to remove the fold marks from this photo and tidy up the scratches a little.  Another photo of Nan's wedding.  Last one I promise!

Thanks so much
Sharon
