« on: Thursday 28 December 06 05:58 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to Vol 14.2 of Northern Irish Roots which is the journal of the NoI Family History Society? There is an item in it, "D Company RIR men from Kilkeel, Newry, banbridge, Rathfriland in Great War".

Thanks,
Pat

Down / Rathfriland Reids
« on: Wednesday 11 January 06 07:52 GMT (UK)  »
Robert Reid and Margaret Anne Mulholland (both of Rathfriland) were married on 27 May, 1867 in Rathfriland Church of Ireland. Robert was a tailor. His father was John, a labourer.  Margaret Anne's father was James Mulholland, a shoemaker.
By the 1901 census Robert was deceased. Margaret Anne was living on Newry Street. In 1911 census she indicated that she had had 4 children, two of whom were still alive. These would have been John who was born in 1872 and Joseph in 1880. The girls, Mary Margaret (b. 1868) and Margaret (b. 1870) apparently deceased by that time.
In the 1911 census John and Joseph each had a family and homes in Rathfriland.
John continued to live in Rathfriland but Joseph moved sometime after 1911 to Warrenpoint where he was a shoemaker.

I am trying to learn when Robert died without having to go through the index for each year from 1880 to 1901. Any ideas?

Any info on the other family members would be most welcome including Margaret Anne's date of death.

Thanks, Pat

Down / Great Belfast and Down Resource

A truly great resource for those researching Belfast and Down. However, I must caution all of you that you time will fly while you are on there and who knows when you might get to sleep. http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext05/8blj110.txt

Good luck,
