Lancashire / Castle Street,Accrington
« on: Friday 28 September 12 19:52 BST (UK)  »
I have found relatives who lived in Castle Street,Accrington, all the children from this family were married at their local RC Church. I have located four RC Churches via Genuki that were or are still in Accrington
Sacrecd Heart,Blackburn Road
St Anne,Cobham Road
St Joseph,Belgarth Road
St Oswald,Hynburn Road
As I am not from the Accrington area could somebody who has knowledge of the area hazard a guess as to which church would have been near to Castle Street.

Studying the 1911 census I found my GGGrandmother Rebecca Tamblyn living in St Blazey with her daughter Rebecca Klausen, husband Jacon J Klausen, and two children from a previous marriage to William Dunston.

Is anybody else researching this family that could fill in a few gaps for me?

« on: Thursday 18 March 10 20:18 GMT (UK)  »
This is a new area of research for me so I am seeking some help and guidance.

My relative John Kenyon lost his life August 1918 and is buried at Longuenesse.
The medal card I have on him shows that he was serving in the 1st Batt Border Regiment.

I am having difficulty in finding information, if it exists, as to were his Regiment was fighting at the time of his death.

Any help and information would be appreciated.

Wexford / Thomas Havard+ Seaman+Royal Navy+ Fethard
« on: Wednesday 21 November 07 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone help me with my query.

Researching the life of my Grandmother I found her Father Thomas was a seaman in the Royal navy serving aboard HMS Ocean, this was in 1871. The ship was decomissioned a short while later.

Two daughters were born Alive 1875 and Edith 1877 there place of birth is shown as Fethard, New Ross.

My query is:

1/  Was there a Royal Naval base in or near Fethard around the 1870's that he could have been posted to. I have checked wikepedie and the Royal Navy  web site but with no success

2/  The family in question were Christened Cof E what would be the local Cof E Church that the Christenings would probably have took place

Any Help would be very much appreciated

Lancashire / WYCHERLEY'S LIVING IN BLACKBURN
« on: Saturday 27 October 07 17:07 BST (UK)  »
Can someone help me with my quest.

Reading my late Grandmothers funeral report which was in a copy of a 1952 local newspaper I noted a nephew 'Richard Wycherley' was present at the funeral, it stated that he lived in Blackburn.

This came as a suprise to me for I had no idea that Wycherleys had moved there although my Grandmother had come from there.

I posted a request in the Blackburn local newspaper to see if there were any Wycherleys still living in the Blackburn area. I did get a response from a lady who knew of a daughter of Richards, but unfortunately before I could make contact she died,July 2007, so I am left in the dark of who this Wycherley was. The only information I have is

Richard Wycherley married Ada ?
Two Daughters
Florence and Janet

Can anybody shed some more light on my quest

Geoff Wycherley
