On the 1911 census occupation given as Butlers odder, Bleach Works, Cotton cloth. Has anyone any ideas as to what this was?

On the rear of this photo is written 8 June 1925 Ripon, Yorkshire. Dvs R. Nicholls T34779 R.A.S.C. attached R.A.M. Robert Nicholls reenlisted for the Second World War, would he have kept the same service number? What does "Dvs" stand for and would "attached R.A.M." be Royal Army Medical Corps? Thanks.

I have a memo from the Hong Kong police dated 9th November 1898 to the Garrison Major, Murray Barracks telling of a rickshaw accident involving Private Robinson. From such sketchy details is it possible to find the regiment?
