Lancashire / Factory lane stables pictures please.
« on: Monday 02 July 07 14:03 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any pictures of the stables on Factory lane Blackley. Just off Rochdale rd. My Dad was a delivery boy for the coop and my mum says the hrse was collected from the stables every day and walked to the padock which is now roundabout where the petrol station is now on Rochdale rd. near to Damhead.

Any info would be great. My Dads name was Ralph Heatley / Hayedn He was born 1931 so I would think the delivery round would be in the 40's or 50's.

The Lighter Side / Hello from a total novice.
« on: Monday 25 June 07 20:13 BST (UK)  »
HI to all. I found this site quiet by accident and got snagged by a thread which mentioned someone who is related to someone living in my street. Spooky. Then a   17 page tread caught my eye,  " what is this building"  It was really fascinating.

This has all got me thinking about tracing my family again. I have tried in the past but have fallen at the first hurdle.
After asking my mother about when and where my dad was born she now tells me (at the age of 39) that my dad was not a Hayden at birth as I'd always thought, but she thinks that he may have had the name Heatly.
A   fter taking my Farthers name as part of my married name, I am now Little miffed. She seems to think that when my Gran married what we think was her second husband she adopted him thus giving him the new name of Hayden.

Any tips on where to start would be most grateful. In return the school holidays are coming up soon and this will give me time to visit Manchester central library if anyone needs help.
