Fife / Scoonie Headstone photo
« on: Sunday 18 December 11 12:15 GMT (UK)  »
Recently I obtained a photo of the headstone  at Scoonie of John Peebles d 4.5.1934 aged 81 and his wife Margaret White d 13.8.1936 aged 83.

The problem with the photo is that a large bush is covering most of the headstone which appears to be in quite good condition. Would anyone be able to take another photo without the greenery please.

Regards
Annette

Can anyone please  help with the details of  Isabella and William Peebles buried at Hamilton Cemetery, Wentworth County.

The reference found is  - cemetery ID 4465, Township, Barton - lot no 19/20

I would like to know their dates of death. The last that I could find on William Peebles was on a border crossing record in the mid 1940's on a visit to his brother in Detroit.

Sutherland / George Mackay and Barbara McKay
« on: Tuesday 29 June 10 14:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Can anyone help me to locate the death record of Barbara Mackay, wife of George Mackay. According to the headstone photo [ online] at Scullomie, Barbara died 13 Mar 1899. I used Scotlands People for the death certificates but ended up with two wrong ones.  She is still alive on the 1891 census with her daughters, Catherine and Annie. Barbara's parents were John and Catherine Mackay [ according to the details on the headstone]

I found the correct death certificate for George Mackay d 11 Jan 1888 at Scullomey, Tongue. [ son of Hugh Mackay and Ann Mackay]  George Mackay married 13 Feb 1830 at Tongue to Barbara McKay. According to census records, both George and Barbara were born c1808 at Tongue.

Some of the dates and ages on the headstone don't appear to be correct.

Annie
