Antrim / Kathleen Rennick - Belfast
« on: Sunday 28 November 10 17:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I couldnt find a board for Belfast so have placed my post here.

Im searching for my father-in-law's sister, Kathleen Rennick. She was born in 1900 in Sligo, Eire. In 1910 she and her brothers and sisters were put into orphanages. They were split up and some didnt see each other again.

Our Rennick family seem to have a few mysteries surrounding them and its hard to find out a lot of info. What I do know is that Kathleen Rennick went to Belfast to live. I dont know if this was to an orphanage when she was young or whether when older. She may even have married in Sligo and gone to live in Belfast with her husband. What I do know is that my father-in-law never saw her again after he was placed in an orphanage in 1910.

Her parents were Alfred Rennick and Caroline Murphy. Her siblings were:

John Joseph Born 1907 (My father-in-law)
Agnes Christine 1895 (Known as Cissie)
Caroline 1906 (Known as Carrie)
Elizabeth 1898 (Known as Lizzie)
Florence 1897 (Known as Florrie)
William Thomas 1894
Evelyn 1909
George Edward 1905
Alfred Stephen 1903

Does anynoe recognise this lady?

Thanks.

Scotland / Kathleen Rennick

Hi,

I'm searching for, or the family of, my father-in-law's sister, Kathleen Rennick.

Kathleen was born in Sligo, Eire, around 1900. In 1910, most of the Rennick children were split up and put into orphanages and some never saw each other again, as was the case of my father-in-law and Kathleen. All we know of Kathleen is that she went to Scotland to live at some point in her life. We don't know if she married before she went, or after, or if in fact she stayed single...but Rennick was her birth name.

Her parents' names were Alfred and Anne (nee McCauley) Rennick and siblings included:

John Joseph
Agnes
Caroline
Elizabeth
Florence
William
Ann
Evelyn
George
Cicile
Albert

Does anyone know of Kathleen or her family?

Thank you.

Lyn

Hertfordshire / RENNICK Family Hertfordshire/Sligo
« on: Thursday 31 July 08 23:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking for the Rennick family in Hertfordshire. I'm not sure what part but I think around Broxbourne area.

My father-in-law was John Joseph Rennick born in Sligo, Eire in 1907. When he was 3 years old he and most of his siblings were put into orphanages and he never saw some of them again.  In 1975 he came over to England for my wedding and stayed with his daughter who lived in Ware, Hertfordshire. Now, I don't know how he found this out, but not long after his return to Sligo, he found that one of his brothers, Albert, who he had not seen since before they were put into the orphanges, had actually been living just a few miles away from Ware whilst he was staying there. By the time he found this out Albert had sadly died.

I've been searching for Albert's family but I can't even find any info on Albert. I can't find an Albert Rennick anywhere, in England or in Ireland.  Since starting the family tree I have found 3 siblings who we didn't know existed (and I doubt if my father-in-law new about them either)..the whole Rennick family history is shrouded in mystery, and I feel maybe this "Albert" maybe wasn't born with that name but changed it at some point.

Does anyone know of a Rennick family in Hertfordshire who had an Albert who passed away in the late 1970's or thereabouts? Albert may not have known about his Sligo roots as the children were scattered all around Ireland and the younger ones may not have known they were born in Sligo.

The parents names were Alfred and Anne (nee McCauley) Rennick.

Thanks.

Armagh / Armagh Birth Information
« on: Thursday 31 July 08 18:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying desperately to find info on my husband's great grandfather, Thomas Rennick, born in Armagh (Montiaghs, Derrytagh North) in either 1839 or 1840. I can't go back any further with either him or his wife, Anne McCauley (who was born in Fermanagh.

I understand that there were no birth certificates, as such,  at that time but the birth would have been registered with the parish. Due to ill health I can't work and so I am on a small budget with regards to the tree. I don't want to pay out for any kind of cert if it's not going to have the information I need on it. Does anyone know if a parish cert going back that far would have the parents', or at least, the mother's name on it? I don't want to pay out if the only info available would be Thomas' name and his date of birth.

Thank you.

Lyn Rennick
