Australia / "Job Noon" Arrived in Australia When?
« on: Thursday 01 June 23 09:12 BST (UK)  »
i have it that the parents of Anne Noon 1860-1919 were Job Noon and Mary Slater as given in Queensland Death Registry on-line. There is a death Registry for Job as 30 Jan 1922 and via Trove The Bundaberg Mail 9 Feb 1922 gives "There passed away in this district a very old pioneer in the person of Job Noon...he was in his 83rd year.... and later says "none of his family are living"  This looks like the Job i'm interested in but have not been able to find when and how he arrived in Australia. I had a suspicion he may have been a convict but found nothing that matches his age. Any help would be appreciated

Australia / Amelia Dunstan married in Victoria, from England When?
« on: Thursday 02 June 22 08:26 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find when and how Amelia Dunstan arrived in Victoria. I know she married Andrew Counsell (1867-1943), in 1889 per BDM Vic 3001/1889 and her Death Vic 4743/1927 gives her parents as Edward Dunstan and Mary Ford. I don't have any birth date or place of burial for Amelia. Haven't found anything that would suggest that one or both parents also came to Australia.  Any help is appreciated

Australia / Bridgit Quinn immigrated to Australia when & How?
« on: Friday 11 February 22 03:46 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for when Bridget Quinn born c 1864 in Galway Ireland immigrated to Australia. She married Michael O'Leary in 1892 in Victoria, and her death registration in Vic Historical BDM's #17925 gives her parents as William and Mary. Any help would be appreciated. I guess that if she was about 28 years old when she married then she probably came on her own. I have nothing that suggest that she came with her parents.

Australia / Matthew Power immigrated to Australia 1854
« on: Monday 27 December 21 23:48 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to confirm when and how Mathew Power immigrated to Australia. Family story is that he  was sponsored for the passage to Australia by his brother John. It is thought that Matthew was 43 and came to Victoria with 4 children in 1854 on the "Eagle". His wife had previously died. I cant find a passenger list or matching ship. Was it the "Black Eagle" or another Eagle.

I'm trying to find confirmation of the family story that James Tonkin, wife Jemima and 7 children immigrated to Australia on the "Steadfast" arriving in Victoria in Feb 1856. James Tonkin, son of Enoch and Elizabeth, b 1805 Dorset England , died Sep 1865 in Victoria, married Jemima Stephens in Parish Church of Stepney 1848. I haven't been able to find matching voyage for date and Steadfast and am wondering if anyone can clarify date and ship.
