Hi, I am trying to locate the some information on the departure of my g grandfather, his wife and 4 children to Australia in 1919. Can someone help direct me to the correct website? The details I have are as follows:
Henry John Potter wife Susan H and children, Harold HJ, Edgar JE, Dorothy GM and Leslie CG (Potter).
It is quite possible that he was known as John Henry or usually Harry.
I don't have a name of a ship or a date other than 1919, so I don't know if they left in 1919 and arrived in Australia 1919 or 1920. They apparently sailed to Hobart Tasmania, although I have been advised that it may have been Melbourne Victoria. (I would tend to go with the Tassie destination 1st). I have been advised he was a merchant seaman, and he was employed to man a lighthouse just south of Hobart. This is all hearsay by my great aunt who is still living and is not 100% sure of all the details.
Any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks
Michele
