Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / One dress....2 sisters
« on: Sunday 08 May 11 12:30 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please give a little to colour to this photo. It is of My Gt Aunt Alice.

There is a lovely story that this particular dress was worn at my parents wedding in 1951 by my maternal grandmother Margaret who is the younger sister of Alice. Sadly my Grandma died in 1954 aged about 55, shortly after her death her sister Alice came for a visit from Canada where she lived and commented on the dress, which my Grandad and mum said she could have. A little while later she had a photo taken of her wearing it.

I am also posting the photo of my Grandma wearing the dress in order to give the talented people on here some idea what colour it was.

Canada / Help to find details for Mary
« on: Saturday 26 September 09 19:49 BST (UK)  »
I have a Great Aunt Mary Lee born Whitehaven Cumberland in 1884. She emigrated to Canada. The only info I have is that on 1911 census she has already gone from the UK  The family story tells that she met a young Canadian chap and eventually married him. I have no name for him and have been unable to find a marriage for her in the UK, so I am assuming she married in Canada. I have also been unable to find Mary on any passenger lists.I understand that Mary sadly died either in child birth or shortly after the birth of her child a girl called Beatrice. There is family suggestion that they were in BC Canada.
I do have a letter written in the 194o's from Beatrice giving an address of  North Road New Westminster. I understand this address no longer exists.I
Would be VERY grateful for anything anybody could come up with for me. Thanks in advance

Manchester Cathederal has a Chapel in Honour of the Lancashire Regiment.
There are roll of honour books available for visitors to view, the books are out all the time and readily accessible. It was quite unexpected and will make very interesting reading for anybody visiting with a Lancashire Regiment connection in their family. I have attached a photo of the Chapel. Lincsbabe :)

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Gt Grandparents Joe and Kate
« on: Friday 29 August 08 16:33 BST (UK)  »
I recently aquired this photo which is a photocopy. Would it be possible for it to be freshened up at all?
My Aunt tells me that it was originally 2 photos that have been put together, and it seems that my Gt Grandparents were photographed at different ages, Joe looks much older than Kate.
Would it be possible for the photo to be put back as 2 portraits, or am I asking too much?  Thanks in Anticipation Lincsbabe

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Jersey help please
« on: Wednesday 23 April 08 16:35 BST (UK)  »
We have a Jersey connection in our tree and were wondering if some kind soul would look something up.
Husbands Gt Gt Grandmother comes up as Ellen Clarke on 1871 census living in Northamptonshire. She was born @ 1837 in Jersey.  She had a 5 year old daughter with her on this census Elizabeth who was born in Birmingham.
Ellen went on to re marry and became Mrs George Penn
We are really stuck on this one and can't progress any further until we can come up with her maiden name.    Regards Lincsbabe :D :D
