Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with deciphering handwriting
« on: Monday 05 March 18 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to figure out the middle name of the Groom's father on this marriage certificate.  "William ____ Parton"? By comparing to the other letters on the document I feel like it might be Stother or Stather??  I believe Arthur Parton was illegitimate and so I'm wondering if perhaps this middle name given for the father might in fact be the real last name. And maybe Parton was just added on to save face? Would love to solve this mystery.  Thanks.

Perthshire / Help with identifying this uniform in Perth ~late 1890s -1902
« on: Monday 05 March 18 16:26 GMT (UK)  »
Not sure where else to post this but I have this old photo of my Gr. Grandmother wearing some kind of uniform/vest and I'm trying to find out what kind of organization this is.  The only identifying mark on the back says "87 High St. Perth"  but I'm assuming that is probably the photographer's address.  Given that she looks to be in her late teens or early 20s I am guessing this was taken sometime between 1896-1902. In the 1901 census she is living at 10 Ballantine Place, Perth and her occuptation is Weaver.
Hoping someone might recognize the emblems on the vests.
Thanks

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me find the birth record (and who his parents were) of Arthur Parton. He was born abt. 1846 in Stottesdon, Shropshire.  His mother's name was Elizabeth.  He is first seen on the 1851 census living with his mother Elizabeth Parton and Grandmother Mary Parton.  Elizabeth is listed as unmarried, so not sure if Parton is her actual maiden name or a married name.  She is also listed as Mary's daughter instead of daughter-in-law.  Anyway, I have not been able to find any birth record for Arthur and would like to find out who his father was and what Elizabeth's maiden name was.  Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jackie

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Preston Family Newcastle-upon-tyne info
« on: Friday 22 February 08 20:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, hoping someone might be able to shed some info on the family of David and Elizabeth Preston from Newcastle-upon-Tyne beginning circa 1780. I found 3 of their sons on the IGI -- John, David, and James.  All christened in "St Nicholas Close St-United Secession Or Scotch Chnewc", Newcastle Upon Tyne.  James had a son David in 1807 (This would be my gr. gr. grandfather). However I can't find any marriage info for James and there is no mother listed on David's christening record.  Does anyone have access to this parish's records to see if there are any other births, marriages, or deaths for this Preston family?

Any help, info or suggestions would be great -- thanks!

PS: what does the parish name Scotch Chnewc stand for?

Hi, I'm looking for info on a marriage between George Marshall (son of James) born 1865 in Manea, and a Sarah ______? They were most likely married in North Witchford between 1891 & 1901 as they are living there in 1901 census.

Thank you

P.S: I am also trying to find out if they had any children after 1901?

Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / George Marshall 1901 Census Look-up Manea - Completed

Hi I would like to find out about this household in the 1901 census: George Marshall (married to Sarah) born (1865) and still living in Manea.  Occupation, kids, etc. There's another George married to Hannah but that's the wrong one.

Also if there is any info on this George and Sarah's marriage I'd be happy to learn of that too.

Thanks so much!

Hi, I was wondering if someone could look up Jeremiah Marshall in the 1851 Census. Living in Manea or may be listed as North Witchford. He'd be about 70 years old.  I'd like to know where he was born.

Thanks

Hi, I'm looking for any info on my gr. gr. grandfather Henry Marshall born about 1801 in Warboys.  He married a Rebecca Mitchell in 1824 in Manea, Cambs.  I'm trying to get more info on him pre-marriage re: birth, baptism, who his parents & siblings were.  Spelling of his name may have also been Henery and last name possibly Marshel or someother variation. I know it's all vague but worth a try!

Thanks  :)

Hi, I'm trying to find a marriage for George Marshall born 1865 in Manea. Parents James and Emily. He may have married a Hannah. It most likely would have taken place sometime between 1880 - 1905.  Thanks.
