London and Middlesex / Birth, St Giles Middlesex.
« on: Thursday 24 November 11 12:28 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if birth records with mothers name are anywhere online for St Giles? I am trying to trace the birth/mothers name of Daniel Thomas Hennessy.
According to census records he was born in St Giles around 1865. On his marriage certificate, April 1887 to Sarah Hewitt, his father is shown as Thomas Hennessy a Tailor. Daniel was also a Tailor by trade.
I have not been able to find a good match online. A possible couple on the 1881 census are Thomas (Journeyman Tailor) and Johanna (Tailoress) living St James, Westminster with a son Daniel (Journeyman Tailor) aged 19. The parents born Ireland and Daniel Westminster, Middlesex. I cannot find them on previous census although there are a couple with same names but other children and different occupations which confuses things.
In 1891 there are a Thomas and Joanna both aged 60 living in Bristol which ties in with place of Daniels marriage and three of his childrens births (other 2 born London).
There are a number of Daniel Hennessys born in area in the 1860s so unless I can find records online it will be send for a certificate and hope its the right one which could work out expensive unless lucky first time.

Somerset / HENNESSY 1888 birth record

I have been going round and round in circles trying to find a birth record for my GGrandfather with no success and wondered if anyone had any idea where I could look.
He appears to of changed his name, which doesn't help tracking him! Everything else I know seems to line up and too many coincidences, family names and dates, for it to be the wrong chap - I think.

1891 C Marylebone, London. He is written down as Gustus aged 3,with his father Daniel (born London) and mother Sarah (born Newcastle) and brother Ernest 4m (b Marylebone). His place of birth Bristol, St Augustine.
1901 C Westbury on Trim, Gloucester. He is Augustus aged 13, parents Daniel T and Sarah and siblings Daniel E 10, Ellen 8, John 2 and Albert 1m. His place of birth Bristol.

The next record we have for him is his marriage, but by this time he has changed his name to Richard Michael Hennessy. He married Agnes Chivers in Merthyr, 1904,  I have a copy of the marriage cert and fathers name and occupation (Tailor) all fit, plus father was deceased which fits with death record for Daniel T Hennessy in 1904.
Another person has him in her tree on Ancestry (an old tree), and she has the name change. She says he returned from Ireland using the name Richard Michael but no idea why. Same fathers details but she has mothers maiden name/parents which I cannot find or tie in, so not sure of that - hence the need for birth cert. Tried contact but no reply.

Hope that all makes sense and if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
