Chris Earl formerly of the Manor House, Skene Street, Macduff has donated a large drawer full of negatives taken by Bodie c1950, it is understood that he got these from Bodie photographic shop in Banff 3 or 4 year ago.  These photographs (Around 500 - 600 of them) show portraits, weddings, family groups, babies etc.  About 150 of these will be on display in the Buchan Street Hall, Macduff 29th May 2011, 1-5pm.  We have very little information on the photos, other than some have the surname written on the envelope containing the negative.  We have posted some below, and may upload some more later, if we get a big enough response. 


I have found two pictures of my Grandma and one of her sister!

Hello, I am struggling to make out the occupation on this Census. I think i might need to see the optician.

All the other occupants on the same page are Farmers or Crofters. But this looks different.

Could I possibly have found someone in my tree that is not a Farmer, General Labourer, or Servant !!! 

The suspense is killing me! 

Any help appreciated.

New Census records added to Irish Genealogical Online Record Search System

The Irish Family History Foundation's Online Research Service (ORS) are pleased to announce the availability of the 1821 census records for the Parish of Forkhill, Co. Armagh.

Armagh Ancestry has now computerised the 1821 Census for the parish of Forkhill. A copy of the 1821 Forkhill Parish Census was found in an old house a few years ago and it has 6344 individuals listed. For those with ancestry in Forkhill parish this is an immense source. Armagh Ancestry is in the process of computerizing the remaining surviving remnants of the 1821 Census for county Armagh.
It is anticipated this will be completed by the end of 2008 and will be added to our online records.

The Irish Family History Foundation’s are pleased to announce the availability of all the Gravestone Inscriptions in the geographical area of North Tipperary.
The Gravestone inscriptions are a valuable genealogical source for people tracing their North Tipperary ancestors.

The Gravestone inscriptions contain information on people buried in the various graveyards in North Tipperary. Not all people who are buried in a particular graveyard had a headstone. Some of the gravestone inscriptions date back to the 1700s and stop about 1920.
The information on the headstones varies quite a lot, some are very informative but others have very scant information.
For example: Mary Ryan, Kickham Street, Nenagh aged 69 years who died on 20th March 1880.
Others may contain only the name of the person i.e. Mary Ryan who died 1850,with no address and no age.

The index of over 41,000 names can be searched for free, and an online copy of the full
inscription purchased for €5.
