Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Poyser - Death records? Can't find anywhere!
« on: Friday 25 August 23 16:37 BST (UK)  »
I am struggling to find any death records for a Thomas Poyser, born 14th March 1835 in Birmingham and married a Letitia Brown born around 1837 in Halfshire, Milton, Worcestershire. They had 3 children - Thomas born around 1862 in Aston, Francis George Poyser born 31st December 1865 who died same month/year and Richard Alfred Poyser (sometimes listed as Alfred Richard) born 29th May 1872 in Kidderminster Worcestershire but died Q2 1921 in Birmingham. Thomas' parents were a John Poyser (1798) and Maria Bowater (1808 to 1855) but I can't find any death record at all for Thomas! Can anyone kindly help/assist or point me in the right direction please? We suspect/believe it could be between 1872 and 1874 but not 100% certain on that, yet.

Thanks, Nick

Lancashire / Daniel Cairney - singer (tenor) and possible music hall star ...
« on: Saturday 12 June 21 03:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys. As you can see in my sig, I'm trying to find out more about this Daniel Cairney. Apparently he worked with Rikki Fulton and was described in his obituary as "an excellent tenor." Apparently he was also once billed with Kathy Kirby and performed in Blackpool for a period of time, so I'd be grateful for any information someone may have about this please. I've been searching Google for hours but so far haven't been able to find out anything more.

Thank you kindly in anticipation. Nick

Hello everyone.

I wonder if anyone can help please? I am helping a friend research his parents but I'm struggling to find more up-to-date information on Ancestry, although it's probably me but anyway.

His parents were Edward Poyser born in March 1920 and Frances May Whipp born in December 1942. We know that in 1965 they were living at 77 Park Road, Blackpool. We don't know how they met, which is what we're trying to discover. Were they already together or did they come to Blackpool separately? We do know that Edward was living and/or working in Kingston-upon-Thames prior to Blackpool and my friend has the impression that they were together then but we simply don't know where or how they met.

If anyone could kindly check the electoral registers for anything in Blackpool (or anywhere come to that) prior to but no later than 1965, that would be brilliant, thank you.

Oh just one last thing to further complicate the issue perhaps ... his maternal grandmother, Frances May Whipp's mother, was also called Francis May Whipp but she was born in 1910 I believe. It's her daughter we're most interested in.

Thank you SO much, in anticipation. Nick

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / William (Henry?) Wildgoose Death? COMPLETED
« on: Monday 24 May 21 14:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello. I wonder if anyone can help please?

A short time back on freepages.rootsweb.com I found a one name study page for a whole load of William Wildgoose and found an entry for 1867 Fazeley, Staffordshire showing that he died in December 1901 aged 35 in Dudley, yet for the life of me I can't find this death record anywhere for some odd reason. Please can anyone help as I need the GRO reference to order the certificate. I've tried searching the GRO index as well as Ancestry but either I'm doing something wrong or whoever posted this has the wrong information? I don't know.

The page I found the information on is http://willgoose.one-name.net/william1800.htm but I can't get to the home page or discover who created it to ask them where they got the information from. The first entry shows a birth of 1867 in Fazeley, which is right, as is all the other information. It's just the death I'm having problems finding. Death December 1901 in Dudley.

Please, if anyone can help/assist with this, I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you. Nick.

World War Two / Another request for help with an RA tracer card please
« on: Tuesday 23 March 21 04:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. I just came across a tracer card during my genealogy research and wondered if anyone has a clue what the AB358 entry is all about under the name? The entry is T190/232 and I can't find any reference to this on Google either. GSC is obviously general service corps and I believe the HAA is heavy artillery something and LAA light artillery something? Finally I can make out all the locations except the final/4th one - 2 GD regiment is it? Thank you. Nick.
