My dad. Anyone know this family? Looked before but came to a stop. His dad was William but there's no more record after him. Would like to find more, if possible. Hope someone can help.

Technical Help / I keep getting locked out - Help please...
« on: Thursday 01 December 11 22:47 GMT (UK)  »
Locked out, then back in - I don't know what is happening. What have I done wrong? It is a mystery to me.

I can't start a new topic anywhere. I can't add to my own thread. Then, a bit later I can do these things, then they are locked out again. A mystery, as I said.

How to Use RootsChat (Please don't post requests here) / What is a Split Topic?
« on: Wednesday 30 November 11 21:28 GMT (UK)  »
I had two notifications by email, timed within a minute of each other, saying that a topic I am watching has been split into two or more topics by Copyright Editor. I clicked on the first one to go to the thread and I could not see anything extra written. It is the same for the second one which was timed a minute after the first one. Why have these two notifications been sent?

I searched for any mention of Split Topic in all the help pages and hints and tips, etc., but could not find anything on it, so I have posted this here to ask for advice, please. I look forward to finding out what it means.

The Lighter Side / Disposing of all FH Records
« on: Wednesday 16 November 11 22:58 GMT (UK)  »
This is bothering me, and I did not know where to post about it.

After my death I know our son, and my husband if he survives me, will not want to keep the records of my Family History. I would like to leave instructions as to what is to be done with it. Is there a place where the whole lot can be sent, and if these records would be of any use to anyone?

My family have said that they would not be interested as they have seen it and they know what is there and would not like to keep it forever. I wonder now if other people have had to make this decision and what can be done. I hope there is help available on this and that someone on here can advise me.

Cheers for now,

Bethgem

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / All censuses look-up please - Wardle
« on: Monday 14 September 09 21:20 BST (UK)  »
Elsie Wardle was a witness to the marriage in Aug 1924 of Leonard Wardle to Lena Margurite Wardle, formerly Green, at the Parish Church of St Peter, Congleton. I want to establish whether Elsie and Leonard were related. Leonard's parents were Frederick Wardle and Sarah Wardle, formerly Mullock. Leonard was born in Aug 1903, living at The Moss, Congleton.
I have a copy of a birth certificate of an Elsie Wardle. The parents were Matthew Wardle and Mary Lavinia Wardle, formerly Bradshaw. Elsie was born in March 1894, living at Bennet Street, Buxton. Incidently, my home town.
Frederick and Matthew could have been brothers and Elsie could have been Leonards cousin. In that case all censuses look-ups are requested, please. A bit detailed, I know, but it all helps to find the right one. It is too much of a coincidence to find a Wardle as a witness to a marriage and have no idea if she was a family member. The only Wardle member left alive is my half-brother, aged 85, and he wants to know who Elsie was on his parents' marriage certificate.

Many thanks for your help,
Bethgem

My Aunt Peg, also known as Maud and vice versa, was a nanny to a member of the Rockefeller family in 1925. These photos were taken then, along with a few others. I am interested in the house to know where it was and if it is still there. I hope you can help on this one please, I would be most grateful.

New poster (well almost) to this image posting procedure. But here goes.
Can anyone identify this shop please?
I can only hope it is in Manchester, and maybe near to Barton upon Irwell, because that is where my father lived and was about 16 years old then and he was a gentleman's hairdresser all his life. This photo image has been kept in the family collection and I have been asked to research it. I hope you can help.

« on: Thursday 30 July 09 18:48 BST (UK)  »
Frederick Wardle was the father of my mother's first husband, who was Leonard Wardle, married in August 1924. I am hoping to find other relatives in Leonard's family. I hope you can help.

I have to look every day to see if there are any replies to my posts. Why doesn't the 'notification' work? I have checked my profile and all looks to be set ok. Advice please.
