Kinross-shire / Thomas Meldrum 1717 - 1777 of Cleish:
« on: Sunday 18 May 14 16:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Thomas Meldrum 1717-1777 of Cleish, is my 5th great grandfather on my mother's side of tree. I know that Thomas and his siblings, Janet 1702, James 1705, Henry 1708, Martine 1711, Isabel 1714 and Janet 1719 were all baptised in Cleish and fathers name was Thomas, only other reference on documents was at the Kirk, in the Kirk or just Kirk, at Kirk on all documents. Is this just a reference to where the baptisms took place or where Thomas the father lived in Cleish.

ie. Martine Meldrum to Thomas at Kirk, this is all it says on OPR Birth, 460/00 0010 0012 Cleish.

There is no reference to whom the mother of the children was on any document and I cannot find any other reference to pinpoint whom she was, can anyone help me break down this wall in regard to father  and mother of my direct ancestor.

                                                               Kind regards,
                                                                     Duncan.

« on: Thursday 17 October 13 22:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
My McDonald ancestor Archibald 1817-Abt1853 son of Hugh McDonald & Anne McColl of Morvern married Ann McIntyre of the family of John McIntyre & Isabella Colquhoun also Morvern, in Glasgow 1st of February 1835.

I would like to find out more about this McIntyre family of my Morvern ancestors, from various documents and census transcripts I know that John was a Wood Turner and that they lived in Drimnin & Ferenish in Morvern. I Have both John and Isabella's death registrations and the OPR Births of most of their children.
Ann(e) Abt 1819-1894, married Archibald McDonald in Glasgow 1835
Donald 1820-1877, died single in Ferinish
------- 1824-1824, unknown
Archibald 1827- ?
Eugen 1826-Before 1830, presumed died before 1830.
Betsy 1829-1913, married John McGilvray in Ferinish 1857
Eugen1830- ?
Duncan 1831-1904, died single in Lochaline
Margaret 1836- ?
Joseph 1839-1916, married Mary McCallum in Oban 1867

Would love to find out more about Archibald, Eugen & Margaret McIntyre and any facts on any family member, stories or photographs.

Any help appreciated as I can find nothing further  about these three children of the family.

                                                                                 Regards,
                                                                                     Duncan. :)

Argyllshire / Christian or Christina McCallum Abt 1816-1903
« on: Saturday 12 October 13 18:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
After much searching for the wife (Christy McCallum) of Hugh McGilvray, Shepherd of Burg, Abt 1804-1879, found her death in Lochgilphead in 1903 at the District Asylum, of Pneumonia and Cardiac Failure. It states that F.A. (Former Address, I presume,) was Torosay. Informant to death was daughter Catherine McGillivray, Taynuilt Hotel. Problem lies in the stated parents on the death registration, 526/00 0074, these are given as Donald McCallum & Mary McDonald but the book "Tea With Chrissie" by Rosalind Jones about Burg on Mull etc. gives different parents, which I have from an Australian contact (John Ross), see attached. Prior to Christina going to Asylum in Lochgilphead, I would imagine general cause being plain old age dementia, she stayed with another daughter Sarah McMillan and family, 1901 Census. All other documents found for McGilvray family members seem to check out correctly but the parents stated on death registration is causing confusion. Other facts given in the book seem to prove true, could wrong parents names have been given to registrar or was the storyteller Christina McGillivray, 1898-1989, grandaughter of Christina ( by Malcolm McGilvray & Bella McDonald (grandaughter of Mary McDonald, Poetess of Mull, 1789-1872.)) just confused in her own old age.

Any help which can confirm events one way or another gladly accepted. Australian connections would love to have this upset resolved.

                                                          Regards,
                                                                   Duncan.

« on: Sunday 29 September 13 04:02 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Have Thomas Plunket married to a Catherine Creamer, married on 12/Feb/1872 in Ballinamore RC Church in Leitrim, Catherine's home area. They moved to Cavan and I have seven children from 1901 & 1911 Censuses, all born in Co. Cavan.
Michael 1873
George 1875
Mary 1876
Susan 1878
Catherine 1881
Ellen 1885
Thomas 1887.

Family addresses on census returns are 1901, House 2 Torrewa, Ballymagauran, Cavan. 1911, (Kate) Catherine Plunket now a widow head of family at House 2 Tereva, Ballymagauran, Cavan.

Any help with children's marriages and their own children would be appreciated. :D.

                                                                                                    Regards,
                                                                                                           Duncan.

P.S. More information on the Creamer family can be found on Leitrim section.

Leitrim / Creamer Family, connections sought in Ballinamore:
« on: Wednesday 25 September 13 22:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Further to my research on the Fee family of Ballinamore, found a marriage of a Michael Creamer to Anne Fee in 24/Apr/1887 in Ballinamore RC CHurch. Found Michael & family on the 1901 Census, giving his age as 50 years, Anne 34 years, Michael deceased by 1911 Census. The couple had at least four children by 1911, Mary 1888, Laurence 1895, Maggie 1900 and Susan, 1907, have birth records for three of these and marriages in Scotland for three, one death record in Scotland. Anne & family moved to Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland where children married but I cannot find Anne's death there

I would love to find Michael's mother (father also Michael) and siblings but no births show on Ancestry for circa 1851 or Rootsireland site. Any help here appreciated, BMD's can be seen on my Ancestry public tree, dunmac96. There are several Michael Creamers on 1901 & 1911 Census in the Ballinamore area but cannot choose father as not enough information to connect dots. Address is Curraghnawall for the family at marriage and several more Creamer families listed at the same address on censuses. Children married into Ward, Knox & Ferry families in Paisley, all RC marriages.
Any help to find connections in Ballinamore would be of great help, son Laurence (Lawrence) travelled to Canada (Deported 1924) and New York 1930, don't know if he lived there after this.

                                                                 Kind regards,
                                                                           Duncan.

Antrim / Kennedy in Antrim:
« on: Tuesday 16 July 13 07:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Trying to find a place in Antrim for the marriage of Samuel Kennedy & Margaret Galt, 7th of June 1854. The marriage places recorded on the births of three children in Glasgow are 1st Groagh, Antrim, Ireland on the birth records of twins Margaret & Jane, 1871 and 2nd Bushmills, Antrim, Ireland on record of William, 1874. Nothing on modern maps matches these locations. As to religion I have no knowledge but children married Church of Scotland. Any help appreciated.
                                                                                               Regards,
                                                                                                     Duncan.

Down / William John Long & Julia Ann Hickey:
« on: Wednesday 12 September 12 21:39 BST (UK)  »
I have the marriage for William John Long & Julianne Heke (many spelling variations of Julia's names)

as 25th of December 1876 at Boardmills 2nd Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. A. Dobbin, in Drumalig,

Lisburn, Co. Down.

The records only give, both church & civil, the name of William John's father, as William, no mother is listed. As there are many William John's born in Down, I cannot pin down a birth date or place of birth to further my research on his family, without some clue of his mother's name. Witnesses to the marriage are David Long (brother, cousin, uncle?) and Alas Norton.

Also no clues given for Julianne's parentage  just the address Drumalig and age over 21, like William John.

I have found records of three children:

Bridget Anne Long born in Ballylesson, Lisburn, Down, 26th of February 1878 for which I have a B.C. copy. Annie as she was known was married and died in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland. 1878 - 1961. Married four times outlasted them all.

Mary Jane Long for whom Ancestry has a Birth Index Card for the 11th of June 1880 in Ballymagarrick, cannot find birth document but I have her death register entry for 1885 also in Partick. 1880 - 1885

William John Long , Ancestry Birth Index Card, 11th of June 1880, in Ballymagarrick, cannot find birth document but have his marriage to a Mary Jane Mason in Belfast, 1902, listed on post in Antrim Board. 1880 - 1950 (Partick) (Mary Jane Mason, 1881 - 1946, Partick)

I wish to find out if William and Julianne had further children.

Where & when, William John & Julianne were they born, parents names if possible and any siblings for both of them.

Any help you can give will help break a long standing brick wall at this branch.

I have listed the children of William John & Mary Jane Mason on Antrim Board.

Bridget Anne Long married Alexander Brown in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland, 31st December 1895, they had four children, Alexander, John, James & Samuel, all but John born in Patrick, John born in Belfast, 8th of January 1898, John returned once more to Belfast later and married Ethel May Farley in 1922, then lived and died in Belfast 1934.

Once more any help with the Long ancestors much appreciated.

                                                                                            Regards,
                                                                                                     Duncan.

Antrim / William John Long:
« on: Wednesday 12 September 12 15:05 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find out all of the siblings of William John Long. I have traced him back as far as his wedding record to Mary Jane Mason 1st of April 1902, St. Anne's Church of Ireland, Belfast, Antrim and at that time both parties are noted as staying at 38 Gaffikin Street. (Cannot find on trawling 1901 census.)

I have his birth as 11 of June 1880, Ballymagarrick, Down, along with a sister Mary Jane Long born or baptised on the same day, along with another sister born, baptised there, Bridget Anne Long, 26th of February 1878 (B.C.) but wish to find any other siblings.

As the family stayed in Belfast, I wish to find them on the 1901 census. His wife Mary Jane Mason, I can find with William & family on the 1911 census staying at 71 Eureka Street but again I cannot find Mary Jane on the 1901 census.

William John's parents are William John Long & Julianne Heke ( Julia Ann Heckie, Hickie, Hickey.)
who married at Boardmills 2nd Presbyterian Church by the Rev. A. Dobbin on the 25th of December, 1876, Lisburn Co. Down (Drumalig) but later lived in Belfast?

Mary Jane Mason was born in Belfast, 17th of January 1881 to Thomas Mason & Catherine McKee, again I cannot find this Mason family on censuses to get siblings names etc.

The witnesses on William John Jr. & Mary Jane's marriage record, 1902 are Robert Gamble & Isabella McKee.

Any help to find siblings for the couple would be much appreciated.

                                                                                                        Regards,

                                                                                                               Duncan.

P.S. Seperate post about William John Long Senior & Julia Ann Hickey in Down Board now locked.
Since posting request however I have found Julia Ann Long's death, age 37, in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland, 27th of February, 1895 at 4 Orchard Street. This gives her parents as, Peter Heckie, Tailor (Journeyman) & Alice McDonald. I can still find no details for Peter & Alice's other family, if any, or anything about them. Still no death found for William John Long to pin his parents down or his D.o.B. Still looking for any help found for the family.

Cavan / Tubman/Foster of Kilmore:
« on: Tuesday 26 October 10 17:47 BST (UK)  »
I have George Tubman (Corracanway) & Elizabeth Foster (Shannon) who married 03/Jul/1872 in Kilmore. Elizabeth died 06/Mar/1890 Kilmore, Derheena, Derryheen, age 44yrs.
Children found:
Robert Abt 1873, 1901 & 1911 Census.
William George Abt 1883, 1901 & 1911 Census. Married Jane Stafford 15/Sep/ 1915, in Billis.
Francis (Frank) 01/Apr/1885 Kilmore, 1901 Census not on 1911?. IGI has marriage to Margaret Lang and several children, which notes Frank's parents names and marriage Abt 1913.

I cannot find any documents for Frank's family, marriage or childrens births, can anyone confirm these events in Cavan.

Anything also welcome on Elizabeth Fosters parents (Father: John on Irish Church Marriage Record but no Mother's name noted.) or any other siblings.

Any help on the above, most welcome.
