Australia / Victorian /SA Court records PETERS
« on: Sunday 03 February 13 04:15 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently discovered that a female relative of mine, Catherine Peters of Dartmoor in Vic. was arrested in Mount Gambier on 16 Jul 1873 on a charge of being implicated in the murder of an illegitimate child. she was remanded to Dartmoor. On the 21 July she had the charges dismissed.

My question is how do I go about obtaining a copy of this file.

« on: Tuesday 08 November 11 10:30 GMT (UK)  »
I have noticed that my Grandparents Richard Thomas Pawley and his wife Cibyl (West) have stated on the 1911 census that they had 8 children born alive and 7 were surviving. The children I know of are Lydia 1874, John James 1877, Richard Rutherford 1878, William West 1880, Joshua Medlin 1881, Cibyl Edith 1883 & Hubert Harrington 1889. All born in Glamorganshire.

I would like help in tracing the missing child.

Cheers

Australia Lookups completed / WEBSTER marriage lookup in SA
« on: Wednesday 04 November 09 03:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , could someone find the marriage of William Webster and Elizabeth Bell.
Elizabeth was born in Lincolnshire in about 1851, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann Bell. I have found 3 children born in Vic. but no marriage shows up. As she arrived in SA in 1859 I thought maybe they were married in that state. I think William Webster may have been farming in the Natimuk area of Vic in the 1880s.

Australia / Help in ageing Catherine PETERS
« on: Tuesday 06 October 09 00:05 BST (UK)  »
I would like to know how to access the early school admission records for 4 S.A. schools.

As background; after further research on topic 269536.0 "Death Of Thomas Peters" I believe that:

Thomas Peters born 4 May 1823 Stithians, Cornwall.
Marries Elizabeth Brown 18 Mar 1843 in Trenbroath, Cornwall. Elizabeth may have died 16 Aug 1846 in Lanner, Cornwall.
Thomas arr. in SA aboard RAJAH on 24 Sep 1847. About 5 months later (28 Feb 1848) he married Elizabeth Harris in Adelaide, Thomas is described as widower. Their 1st son arr.in10 months, 19 Dec 1848, in Montacute SA. Their 2nd son arr. in 20 months, 7 Aug 1850, in Montacute. A daughter (Elizabeth Francis Peters)arr in 23 months, 2 Jul 1852, in Callington SA.

A witness on the daughters wedding cert.(1 Jan 1872 in Mt Gambier) is Catherine Peters described as "sister of Elizabeth Francis Peters". Her signature is in a mature/educated hand and I am told the witness had to be 18. Catherine's residence is given as Dartmoor Vic.

I feel that if I can find a school admission for Catherine it should give her age. I think that she could have been a child of the 1st marriage or else she would have had to be born between May 1853 and Jan 1854 in SA.
