Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Help with Arthur Pritchard
« on: Friday 10 March 23 09:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I would like to have better images for my Granduncle Arthur. He was from North Wales, but emigrated to Australia in 1927. He fought in the Australian Army in WWII, serving first in Palestine, before ending up in Papua New Guinea. I have his 5 WWII medals, and they are to be displayed in a frame, alongside a picture of him in uniform. The  pictures have come out a bit grainy, please help to improve the definition? Can the height chart be taken off the last one?
Thank you,
Tarnwater

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Understanding the post
« on: Saturday 26 February 22 20:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, Yesterday I asked for help in locating an address on the 1939 register. I did not ask for a copy, or anything that I consider might be breaking any rules. All I requested was a name, and year of birth. Then it would help me to look it up. As it was, the answer that I was given, proved useful, and I managed to find what I was looking for. I apologise if I you think I  broke any rules..

Antrim / Stephen McCallion from Cairncastle
« on: Thursday 25 March 21 11:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am trying to find more about Stephen McCallion abt.1885, Ballysillan, Caircastle, Antrim. I think I found the right person on the 1901 and 1911 Irish Census, living with his parents Robert (1854) and Catherine (1861), living in Ballyruther, Carncastle, Antrim in 1911.

Stephen McCallion was in the Merchant Navy, he survived the sinking of the Bay Fisher 7th Feb 1941, and was taken to Dundee.

I can find no other records for Stephen, can you help?

Tarnwater.

Devon / 1939 Register COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 25 March 20 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
Help needed please, I am not asking for an entry in the 1939 register, only to find the County, Borough/District or Urban, and Enumeration code, for the Devon County Mental Hospital, Starcross near Exeter.I have searched for my ancestor who was there until 1966, but without any success, her name was Mary Elizabeth Furneaux nee Skinner, born 13 April 1884, Devon. If I know where to look on Ancestry, I may find her. Thank you, Brian

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Where am I
« on: Tuesday 24 March 20 19:50 GMT (UK)  »
Your help is required, to locate where this photograph was taken. The boat registration letters are for KY and LH, are for Kirkcaldy and Leith, so it could be the East side of Scotland. In the background, there could be a lock for a canal. Thank you. Brian
