Wexford / Margaret Dunn who are the real parents ?
« on: Thursday 03 August 23 12:20 BST (UK)  »
can someone please help me find out who my real 2xgreat grandparents are?

My great Grandmother Margaret Dunn Born abt 1849 Ireland was marred twice.

1st marriage age 21yrs (11/02/1870) to Thomas Sergeant : parents were : Edward Dunn (land steward) & Mary Ann Dunn m.s Fay

2nd marriage age 24yrs (28/07/1876) to Robert Hood her parents were ; John Dunne (land steward) & Margaret Dunne .m.s Elliot

on her death certificate parents are John Dunne Land steward & Margaret Dunne m.s Elliot

I also have an extract from census return of 1851 (cen S/22/4) I dont know if this was needed for her pension or something ? its dated 8/10/1920 Parents are listed as Edward Dunn & Mary Ann Fay and the address of the "applicant" is my great grandmothers in Glasgow. theres lots of wee scribbled notes on it too

I also noticed although there was 6 years between those marriages my great grandmother only aged by 3yrs   ;D ;D

I would be most grateful if someone could help solve this riddle please

Ayrshire / Robert Hood & Elizabeth Watters, Sorn, Ayrshire
« on: Sunday 16 July 23 15:50 BST (UK)  »
hi
can anyone help with further information on my great great grand parents please?

the only info I have is on the birth record of their son in Sorn Ayrshire ( CH3/409/2 416 )Irvine Relief...  which I have quoted below

quote
"Robert natural son of Robert Hood collier Hunterfield, Gorebridge, near Edinburgh & Elizabeth Watters, Stanecastle Gate, near Irvine. was born 15th December past (1853) and baptised twenty-fifth instant (June 1854) "

the son  Robert married in 1876   (644.10 180)....Both parents were marked as deceased .

I dont know if Elizabeth and Robert married? the minister hasn't used the words "lawful son or

daughter" for anyone on the church record book most just say son or daughter but in Roberts case

it does say "natural" son... I also noticed at the top where the record number is it says Irvine Relief

is that something like poor relief ?? can someone explain that to me too?

as regards census records so far I've only managed to get the son Robert on the 1881.1891.1901 staying in New Keppochhill road Glasgow.. I've a couple more in my shoebox that at first sight look like they may him but the occupations just dont fit (I know people change jobs) or grandparents have wrong surnames?? anything anyone can add to any of the above I'd be most grateful

thanks

hi
Im looking for a bit of help trying to trace a marriage that took place in Ireland?

I got this info from their sons birth records  although had trouble deciphering it and with the help of the good people on this site managed to decipher the marriage [this is the original post to decipher]
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=799760.msg6573372#msg6573372

the marriage took place between John King & Ann Evan in February 1873. Kill, Ireland

their first son James was born on 21 March 1874,  Drum, Mon, Ireland [according to the record  i got on ancestry].if that helps?... all their other children were born in East Kilbride Lanarkshire Scotland.

thanks for taking the time to read this and maybe help find this marriage and perhaps this will lead me to find  their parents.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Edward Jones c1837 Dudley
« on: Thursday 24 August 17 19:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks

Its been a number of years since I was doing this family tree and used 'rootschat'
I'm still struggling with Edward Jones. I think I might have found him in the 1851 census with his uncle of same name

census 1851  Dudley, St James
head;    Edward Jones abt 1801 age 50yrs Blacksmith
wife;'     Mary Jones       "  1798 age 53yrs
nephew; Edward Jones       1837 age 15ys apprentice [born shewsburry Shropshire]
what I know so far is Edward was in royal artillery
he married Margaret Sutherland in Leith Edinburgh 7jan1859
think he died 23june1877 THAYETMAYO which in Burma I think cholera and 2 children dies too.
he and Margaret I  at least 6 children born all in various place [England. Ireland Bangalore]
i know Edwards fathers name was John Jones however his mother is unclear Doyannah Quinlain looks like on Edwards marriage certificate. I'm hoping to find the family in 1841 census or his brth record...perhaps to clear this up...[ive tried various names Susannah, Hannah, Maryannah but none seem to fit] so if theres anyone who can help with this brick wall I'd most grateful
thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / look up Edward Jones, b. 1837 Dudley
« on: Wednesday 18 February 09 11:54 GMT (UK)  »
can anyone help by doing a look up please?

I'm looking for the birth record of Edward Jones according to his army records
he he enlisted in the Royal Artillery 07 May 1858 aged 21 years and 4 days.

If my arithmetic is correct his date of birth was 03 May 1837.

He was born at Dudley, Wolverhampton, England

It also states that he had at least 2 brothers named William and Joseph

his fathers name was John Jones his mothers name I'm unsure about as its quite illegible on his marriage cert. 7 jan 1859 Leith, Midlothian Scotland
I have posted else where on roots see  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=340890.0;id=115628;image.

link to other posts http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,340890.45.html

I might have found a possible unsure I don't want to send for birth certificate if its the wrong one.....I'm mainly interested in finding out once and for all what his mothers name was.........

    Edward Jones
