Breconshire / Edward Williams Hay-on-Wye
« on: Sunday 14 June 15 10:48 BST (UK)  »
Researching this for a friend.

Edward Williams b c1815, St Davids Breconshire, is on Black Lion road, Hay, in 1861 with his wife Eliza and family.

In 1871 he appears to be at the same place but with a different wife, Charlott.

Could anyone confirm Eliza died and Edward remarried?

Also the friend in question has the middle name Lilwall and so do many of his family.

The origin of the name has been lost and i have been unable to connect the Williams with the Lilwalls, who seem prominent in the area.

I have been using a tree on Ancestry, whos' owner has not yet replied to my enquiry, and cannot see any connection from that.

Maybe its pre BMD registration.

Census and Resource Discussion / Ancestry subscription and access to records
« on: Tuesday 04 November 14 08:10 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently had access to a particular record on Ancestry.co.uk removed. UK, De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour. I have been a subscriber since 2008 with the Annual Essentials Membership. A few months ago i noticed that i no longer had access to this record. I enquired about this and have subsequently had it returned, until i tried to access it yesterday. It would appear Ancestry are trying it on again to get me to subscribe to a more expensive package which includes this record and others.
My point is are they allowed to do this, remove access to records i have had in the past, Several years ago the same thing happened to immigration records, but i did nothing about it at the time. Is this a breach of contract.
I know i can get free full access to records at my local library and for anyone who doesn't know UK de Ruvigny is available to download below with lots of other great books

Roxburghshire / John Tice Kelso War Memorial
« on: Saturday 21 September 13 01:20 BST (UK)  »
There are three Tice's on Kelso War Memorial,

George William and John.

George was Royal Scots, William was KOSB, but there is no John on the SNWM website.

CWGC & SDGW has a John Arthur Tice, but i can find  no connection to Kelso or Roxburghshire for him.

John Tice ,age 4 and a William age 2, appears on the 1891 census.

I can find no reference to John Tice, at least online, to any military service.

All help greatly appreciated
