England / Look up death: Bentham,Yorks
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 05:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

As I've been trying to find my Gt Gt grandmother who migrated to Tassie, I remembered one of her children emigrated to UK with her English spouse.

Perhaps.  it might be easier to get a death certificate for her daughter?  Would it show the parents details ie Kate Snr and John Parkin? ???

Catherine (Kate) Parkin  b 3/3/1865 to Kate(Catherine Reid) and John Parkin in Longford, Tasmania

She married George E Maude in Ulverstone in 1890, they had 2 children there before moving back to Lanark, Scotland in 1897.  They moved to Maude's farm in Bentham, Yorkshire where 2 more children were born.

Kate died aged 48 in 1904 at Wharfdale, Yorks.

Children:(1901 Census) Letitia Nicholl 9; Mary Harriet (6) both born in Tasmania - Gertrude 4; Kate 3 born Bentham, Yorks.

Help.

Trying to find if a ship existed that my grandmother said her grandmother travelled on from Scotland (Dumbarton area) to Tasmania somewhere around mid 1800's.

My Gt Gt grandmother was married in Tasmania in 1862 she was born in 1834.........so somewhere in between she travelled.  (Really hard to find)

"Lady Jane O'Loughlin" was the 'supposed' name of ship quoted to me.  I have searched all the Lloyds sites, shipping sites etc.  ???

Thanks Barb

Hi,

Trying to find out who a Myra Etheland PARKINS is, dob, who she was, where born, who married etc.  She was a witness to my Grandparents marriage - must have been over 21 to sign certificate.

I have just located my grandparents marriage certificate- from 27/1/1915 at Ulverstone, Presbyterian Church.

Roland Abraham Horsham, Ulverstone.  Age 23.
to
Jeannie Younie, Ulverstone Aged 22.

The witnesses were Jeannie's dad - James Younie
and unknown lady - Myra Etheland Parkins.

Any way I can find out her relationship to Jeannie?

Name: Myra Etheland PARKINS.  Jeannie's maternal grandmother was Kate Parkin Nee Reid (deceased in 1914).  Who had 2 sons neither of them have wives who match this name.  (Sometimes I find they call themselves Parkin/Parkins)

One of Kate and John Parkin's sons was William b 20/8/1871 - he married in 1903 to a Doris Webster, 3 kids Kate, William B 1905, Amy.  all at Ulverstone.

Perhaps she was an aunt ie sister-in-law to Kate Parkins?

She shows up on the 1901-1931 Electoral roll in the area of Darwin, Tasmania  - which is around Ulverstone, Tas and later in Victoria.

Any help appreciated.

Australia / Shipping List Help: 1854
« on: Monday 25 February 08 07:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for the arrival into Launceston, Tas for about 1855ish for my Gt Gt grandmother.

Anyone know where this ship may be originated from?  How can I find any info about this passenger? (It was told to me she came from Dumbarton - near Glasgow)

Catherine Reid (25) Arrived Jun 1854 on "Parsee" into Victoria on the Assisted Immigrants lists.  Book 11 P 13 .

I keep hitting brick walls trying to find this lady.  She came from Scotland, b about 1829.  Came out to Launceston to be a Nannie/Governess to family Gatenby.  Married in 1862 (33) and had 6 children and then moved with spouse to Ulverstone Tas and died there in 1914.

Any help appreciated.
