Nottinghamshire / Mary Ann Chambers
« on: Friday 27 July 12 11:22 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor was Thomas Duck, born 1810, baptised 8 April 1810 at St. Peters Church, Radford, Nottingham. He fathered a son, Hiram James Duck, to Mary Ann Chambers. They never married. Thomas married Elizabeth Litchfield, 11 June 1832 at Radford and eventually came to Australia.
I have often wondered what happened to Hiram. Has anyone any ideas please?

Derbyshire / Obadiah Berrisford
« on: Tuesday 02 November 10 20:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am looking for Obadiah Berrisford, Berresford, Beresford, who originally came from Ashover, Derbyshire. He married Barbara Shepherd, the sister of my great grandmother 4th May 1855 at Wesleyan Church at Goulburn, New South Wales Australia. He was sent as an exiled convict to the colony 20th August 1849 on the "Randolph".
According to IGI he was baptised 19 March 1815 at Ashover; his parents John Berrisford and Roseanna Else. This baptism was submitted by a member of the church so I am not sure if it is correct. Also I am looking for any siblings of Obadiah if possible.
Thanks Barbara. :)

Scotland / Law - Oswald Marriage
« on: Thursday 26 August 10 21:29 BST (UK)  »
I would appreciate any help with this problem please.
I have two records of a marriage. That is not uncommon, however these two are recorded to have occurred on the same day. Perhaps they are two different couples, but I don't think so.
David Law who was born in Dysart, according to the IGI and GROS data married Agnes Oswald 11 July 1797 at Dysart, Fife.
A David Law married an Aggness Oswald 11 July 1797 at Canongate, Edinburgh, Midlothian.

A Robert Oswald is listed as the bride's father on the entry at Canongate, Edinburgh.
On the IGI i found a Agnes Oswald born 17 February 1773, christened 21 February 1773 at Dysart, Fife, parents Robert Oswald and Janet Allan.
Are there two Agness, Agnes Oswalds and two David Laws who married on the same day in two differnet places?
Any suggestions please.
Thank you.

Fife / Law Family from Fife Scotland
« on: Monday 26 July 10 21:50 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am looking for some help with my Law family who originally came from Dysart, Fife. William Law married Margaret Fullarton in Dysart in 1825. They had eight children and by the 1841 census they were living in Auchterderran, Fife.
William was a journeyman sawyer and later listed as a carpenter. My husband's ancestor Andrew born Dysart 10th August 1836 was William and Margaret's son. His elder brother David (born 12th December 1826) came to Australia. Andrew followed in 1863.
I am hoping to find out what happened to their brothers and sisters.
John born 29 December 1830 at Dysart
William born 12 February 1833 at Dysart
Isabella born 9 July 1928 at Dysart
Christina born 7 July 1829 at Dysart
Agnes born 8 November 1834 at Dysart
Elizabeth born c1939 at Auchterderran
If anyone can help I would be most grateful.
