Scotland / Eastwood Cemetery - Help!!!
« on: Wednesday 09 November 22 14:20 GMT (UK)  »
Wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for a map of Eastwood Cemetery. I am trying to find the graves of a mother and son. This is the only details I have;

Euphemia Smith Hamilton
DIED: 23rd May 1923 age 41  BURIAL: Eastwood Cemetery, 1400, Section D

Andrew Hamilton Sutherland
DIED: 16th March 1924, age 3  BURIAL: Eastwood Cemetery: Compartment T, Lair 144

I am aware there is Eastwood old and new cemetery. (I have no idea if they are in the old or new.) I am also aware the cemetery's are both in a terrible state, hence I would like a map (or some expert advice) so I can figure out roughly where they may be.

Ayrshire / Ardrossan WW2
« on: Sunday 23 September 18 19:26 BST (UK)  »
My Grandfather was in a reserved occupation, ship building at Ardrossan shipyard during the Second World War, he also served in the Home Guard. My daughter is doing a school project on WW2 which has made me realise we have no photographs of him during those years :(... so I have been searching the internet trying to find photographs but can't.

Do any of you lovely Rootschatters have photos they can share? His name was William McGrath, any of him or groups photos would be very much appreciated.

Hi All,

I have a certificate for Sighthill cemetery,  my gg grandparents have purchased compartment two, class x, number 157, back in 1919. Any ideas how I can find out who is buried there? I know it isn't them.

Thank you!

Ayrshire / Sorn Burial Records
« on: Monday 23 May 11 20:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

I am trying to find where I can access the burial records for Sorn parish cemetery.  I have contacted the National Archives who pointed me to The Burn's Institute in Kilmarnock, who don't have them.  The Heritage Centre in Saltcoats don't have them either.

I have been trying to contact Sorn Church directly but have been unable to get anyone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Scotland / 1901 look up please - McIntyre
« on: Tuesday 14 September 10 15:32 BST (UK)  »
Would someone be able to look up the following family in the 1901 census please?  I would be most grateful;

Williamina Ross Munro b: 1879 in Inverness + John McIntyre b: 1875 in Glasgow
      Helen Hynd McIntyre b: 1899 in Glasgow
      Wilhelmina Ross McIntyre b: 1900 in Glasgow

I think they might be living in Ayrshire around then.  (Could be wrong.)

Thanks in advance,
Hanan

Scotland / "Divorced" Stamped on Marriage Cert
« on: Monday 01 June 09 10:50 BST (UK)  »
I have a marriage certificate for Mary Kerr McGrath & Alexander Fredrick Parker.  Who got married in 1904, I am curious as to why it has "Divorced" stamped in the left margin near their listing.

I know they were still together in 1913 as I have Immigration papers for Alexander going to the US and he named her as "next of kin".  (At which point Mary is now in England.)

My question is would the Scottish records office go back to a certificate from 1904 and stamp "divorce" on it if they were to separate sometime after this trip in 1913?   ???
